This is a little embarrassing.  Years ago before Google and Internet were even words and this song came out, some mates and me were trying to figure out the words.

 

Some guy who seemed to know about these things said it was "Flat Head Ford" and that seemed to satisfy us.

 

The image of a hot chick in a custom hot rod seemed better than a country girl in a beat up farm truck.

 

All these years I've carried the wrong image
