BANGKOK — The interim parliament on Tuesday unanimously approved a new bill that would increase government monitoring of private banking to collect tax revenue.

After a long debate, the assembly by a 139-0 vote approved the draft law, which would nominally tax online shopping. The bill requires individuals whose bank accounts show over 2 million baht worth of transactions per year to disclose those accounts to the revenue department for tax assessment.

just a grab at money, they should be trying to get tax from all the cash only sellers that dont declare it, there are some making millions of baht all under the radar. You only have to look at how pathetic thai websites/internets are set up to realize that they would not be able to even set something like this up, they simply lack the technology/know how, many think they know what they are doing but they actually dont and bugger up more than they fix

All taxes are theft !

Who gave the Government the right to steal money ?

Answer:

Nobody !!! Because nobody has the right to steal so nobody can give this right away to a Government !

People are just so brainwashed that they actually think taxes are a good thing ... they are not and they are not necessary at all !!!

Governments finance themselves differently !

This one is dead in the water. Once somebody in authority realises that Lazada is owned by the same Chinese company (Ali Baba/Ali Express) which is spreading Union Pay throughout Thailand (and paying out enormous back-handers to replace VISA & Mastercard in Thai banking with this toytown card), everything will just fizzle quietly out.

Chinese excluded.  What about tracking everyone in the government to monitor corruption?  How long will that debate be?

Big Brother only looks at others, and if they ever look inward we will never know, but surely that is where the biggest gains are to be made.

I’m not concerned personally but have concerns giving blanket access to monitor a persons or companies bank account.

Instead of blanket approval access there should something similar

to a warrant that has to be approved on individual concerns.

I could imagine someone of authority having a beef with someone

and just to be a dick monitor / or put their bank account on hold.
