Here is an updated copy of the processing times for different visa categories lodged at overseas embassies, consulates etc. The list below (in weeks) will give you some idea of the “average” processing times. (Average = 75th percentile).

* Spouse (subclass 309) applications:

Bangkok-36, Berlin-21, Hong Kong-18, London-8,Shanghai-28,Washington-29

* Spouse (subclass 300) applications:

Bangkok-25, Beiruit-39,Ho Chi Minh-79,London-11,Manila-19,Moscow-21,Pretoria-31,

* Parent (subclass 103) applications:

Worldwide-447 weeks

Parent(subclass 143) applications:

Worldwide-51 weeks

* Remaining Relative (subclass 115)

Worldwide-71 weeks

* Child (subclass 101)

Worldwide-20 weeks

* Skilled Migration

(subclass 136) – Worldwide – 47 weeks

(subclass 138) – Worldwide – 88 weeks –

(subclass 139) – Worldwide – 48 weeks

* Business Migration

(subclass 163) – lodged in Perth – 38 weeks

(subclass 165) – lodged in Perth – 45 weeks

Thanks for that bapak. There is conflicting advice on the Department of Immigration's website as to processing times.

For example I was told by phone it was 3 to 5 days for a Tourist Visa, but their website says 4 weeks (for a sponsored visitor), 1 month (for a short-stay non-sponsored visitor) and 1.5 months (for a long-stay non-sponsored visitor).

36 weeks for average spouse visa subclass 309 in BKK, wow!

my wife got hers processed and approved in less than 24 hours in BKK!

I wish everyone else who goes through this process the same speed........................

the time frames are...

5-6 days for a tourist visa

4-6 weeks for a spouse visa

these are the standard time frames, as Aussiestyle says they are ways of shortening the spouse visa

These time frames are for complete and good quality applications...if they requrie more info or have some queries then it can take longer.

No, im not related to John Howard and no, I did not meet my wife in a bar and my wife is not 40 years younger than me, if it helps you figure out why our application was approved so fast....................
