They should have had some sort of warning in place on the first day, when the digging up of the road surprised everyone. I didn't see any accidents but a couple of near misses, one involving my car!

Only very short sections need resurfaced. The down slope into Kata was ok. Only some sections near the top were bad. Waste of money.

Disagree with that, the road was bad for quite some time already over a long stretch.

The down slope into Kata was a nightmare when it rained. Many motorbikes have lost control at that point. Hopefully they'll improve the grip when they resurface.

Same subject, different location.  I had to be in Patong last week and drove from Patong to Karon.  That road was seriously dangerous, no lighting, exposed rebar, open ditches.  I feel sorry for motorbike riders there.

Yes, I was thinking that the resurface could be for some sort of anti-slip material.

The wife rode over the hill on the weekend and reported there was a bad bike accident involving a farang near the roadworks. Haven't heard any reports about the outcome.
