webfact Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 You want the Thai police to help you? Shame them on social media Picture: Daily News A house owner in Nonthaburi was so fed up with police inactivity after four burglaries at his house that he put up a sign. He named and shamed the Plai Bang police for failing to bring the thief to justice. Then he posted the picture on social media. The firestorm meant that yesterday he got a visit from the top brass. Picture: Daily News Red-faced chief of the Nonthaburi provincial police, Maj-Gen Phaisan Wongwatcharamongkhon ordered his minions to solve the case once and for all. Owner Tawatchai Kaewsawang put up the sign after suffering four burglaries dating back to 2011. He said that the police knew who was responsible but had failed to bring him to justice. The final straw came last Friday when tens of thousands of baht of amulets and expensive watches were stolen. Tawatchai believes the same person is responsible. The sign used facetious Thai language saying: "Dear burglars. There is nothing of value here so please don't break in". It then itemizes the role of the police in failing to solve the crime and mentions the Plai Bang station by name. Source: Daily News -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-12-13 1

Popular Post colinneil Posted December 13, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2018 Well done that homeowner, but he was expecting the police to do their job. They only get up off their backsides if they can make money. Now 4 months since i called the police about an intruder on our property, still waiting for any response. 6 1 1

Lupatria Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Get used to it, the words: "To serve and protect" are not written on any RTP vehicle door! 2
PETERTHEEATER Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Naming and shaming is in violation of defamation via Internet is it not? 1 1

Popular Post Sydebolle Posted December 13, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2018 I had an incident where the police flatly refused to take up a complaint about stolen car parts and kept laughing. I took photos of them inside the station when they went absolutely over the moon; worked wonders and two hours later the culprit was arrested and I got my spares back. 2 1
KhunProletariat Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 I wouldn't ask for the help of the RTP even if I was stabbed in the stomach in broad daylight. The thought of having to deal with the general incompetent and nonchalant attitude from most the boys in brown is infinitely worse than being viciously assaulted. 1 1

Great job well done to get the cops of their office chairs ,,, He wouldn't be a friend of Toady with the watches by any chance . 1

spidermike007 Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Never forget one thing, when living in Thailand or visiting. The police are revenue collection agents. They rarely engage in law enforcement. So, to expect that from them, is unrealistic. Social media is a powerful tool, and can be used to shame police, landlords, bosses, immigration, and others, who are misbehaving, and need a good straightening out. 1 1
Henrik Andersen Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 If you have to take so dramatic step to get police attention it will be smart if Thai people start demanded better police force Start demonstration against lazy and corrupt police force Meaby it will help P. S. Not all are corrupt and lazy .......... I think ........or hope......
Dinobot Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 There are only two currencies the RTP respond to, cash and publicity.
KhunFred Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Frankly, a move that only a Thai might get away with. Any farang who did this would disappear mysteriously. I suspect that this Thai gentleman will face repercussions somewhere along the line. Thai police ARE the law in Thailand and this is unlikely to change, barring unforeseen social upheavals. "Shutting the mouth" is always the best policy when dealing with RTP, but I commend this brave man for his efforts.
