Think it may be far too early to start sending regular monthly sums, especially 20K or more. OP should build a relationship first and pay for things during his visits, but don't jump into paying her and supporting her family when so early in a relationship.

If she is required to provide some level of support to the family, she won't be able to go more than a month without money.

No money and the family will ship her back to the bar and the girl will have no choice. The majority of bar girls, particularly those with children in Issan, come under extreme pressure, practically forced, by their parents to seek work in a bar.

Average requirement for girls to send money home to their families in Issan is 5k baht/month but they come under constant pressure to send more. Where do you think the girls get their sick buffalo stories from? They come from the parents!

You get the impression that the girls see you as an ATM, well the girls are seen as ATMs by their families.

The average bar girl earns far less than you seem to think. In a beer bar complex, they are lucky to get one customer pre week, particularly in low season. They get lady drink commission and a percentage of the bar fine but it still not a great deal. Salaries are around 6k baht per month but mamasans/owners will use every trick in the book to fine girls for this and that in order to reduce that payout. At least 50% of girls, these days, are Sie Lie girls and receive no salary. You'd be surprised how many bar girls receive less than the minimum wage on an average month. Many girls bump along from month to month with personal loans and pawning their gold.

I don't know how often girls go with guys in average. It seems to be different in different location, business types, etc.

I know from talking with girls and my own observations that their income depends a lot on their motivation to make money. Some girls sit the whole day with the face behind their phones and then they are surprised that they have no customers. Other girls go actively to guys and actively suggest to the guys what they could do together. Obviously the active girls make a lot more money - if they want to. One customer per day is really not exceptional, if the girl looks not too bad and if she wants to go.

Family obligations of children to support parents is deeply engrained in Thai culture. Not really equivalent to an ATM farang boyfriend or Husband.

If you were privy to what parents were saying to their daughters, you'd realise that the 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

They constantly nag them to screw some more coin out of the farang ATM and, because of the obligations you refer to, the daughter finds it difficult to ignore their requests.

Because of this, I have completely cut my mother in law off, that and the fact that my wife's stepfather is a workshy paedophile. I've seen him in action, he gets not one sentang of my money.
