PHUKET:-- Immigration Chief Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn held a press conference in Phuket today (Dec 17) to announce that a major counterfeit goods network operating in Phuket and Chiang Mai had been busted, with assets worth an estimated B282 million.

Speaking at the Phuket Provincial Police Region 8 headquarters located at the northern end of the island, Gen Surachate explained that raids were carried out in both the heavy tourist popular areas of Phuket and Chiang Mai after receiving information from many people via online platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Line.

“On Oct 26, police officers checked 26 locations in Patong,” Gen Surachate said.

Why is the 'acting' Immigration Chief involved with major counterfeit goods network ??

Probably to do with the 'acting' - he's getting used to parading around in front of the press.

This PR exercise looks like it was held during daylight hours. More recently, the actor 'acting' head of immigration has been holding press conferences during the hours of darkness. Perhaps he's happier being nocturnal like a bat?

Got a fake LV bag for mia as a x-mas gift

Who cares if he is involved. He has done more in 2 months than his predecessors did in 10 years.

Only true when you believe 'fake news'............ we may later learn that he is just a 'prop' advertising how well the RTP can do their job............ TIT........... but you can believe what you like...........

Thailand still likes the money that those 'counterfeit' goods bring into the country........

But at the same time they try to polish up their 'image' once in a while with a 'show' like this getting BIG PUBLICITY......

But you have to question why he seems be controlling both Immigration and Police investigations, even marine investigations.  I well know the line is thin between all these minions of the army, the real power in Thailand. This guy is for sure being groomed by the powers to be a future PM.

Future PM doubt it,  the Thais can see through this charade. At least they won't vote for him if voting is an option.
