Two people have told me today that the city will be closed (all business) after 6PM tonight. Is this just garbage talk or what.  Something, one said , about a Royal Family member coming to town.  Truth or fiction?

Fiction. There will be a marathon tomorrow morning and the city will begin closing streets latter this evening.

A lot of streets closed after 8pm for marathon and I believe 1 or 2 royal family members attending.

Tapae closed, Loikroh closed, moat roads closed and the marathon goes off towards Hang Dong (peut suan lokh). Not sure what happens there.

Apparently no Saturday market but Sunday one is on.

A race starting at one in the morning? That's the sleep-deprived marathon, right?

Why not have it during human activity hours (not counting bargirls) and run from say Maerim to Mae Taeng, which is almost exactly the right distance? There could be better management and no need to close key thoroughfares. Ending at Taepae Gate? What a clusterfluke.

Too damn hot. The Pattaya marathon also starts at some ungodly hour in the morning and is over by the time most people get up.

Starts at Tapae Gate and there are separate races staggered.

I think the main one at 1 am and the last is the mini marathon at 0600

There was a poster up saying 11000 people attending.

The Thai Visa run starts at 5 AM

Well , no one actually does any running in the last one , they just stand about arguing with each other and wait for all the other runners to get back and tell them they should have gone on a different route

Now THAT's funny....good one!
