KOH SAMUI — Island police are on the lookout for a repeat wildlife offender who farms tourists for money by charging them for photos with a gibbon.

Koh Samui police were looking Wednesday for Ismail Thalang, 35, after someone posted a video clip of him approaching beach-goers with a small ape slung over his shoulder earlier in the week on Chaweng Beach.

Thongchana said he does not remember what Ismail was fined.

They should apprehend the tourists who contribute to his 'services'.

This guy looks familiar. Seen him on Lamai too with Gibbon baby and when approached to complain about the illegality of this, one is met with not so thinly veiled threats.

Seen the same activity in other tourist spots such as Ao Nang, and feel quite sad for the poor victims.

Did you approach him to complain about the illegality of this?

According to the little muslim beard that he has, it’s better to never confront them directly. Unless you want him to go gibbon jihad on your ass.

Mainly to tell his 'customers' of the story behind Gibbon baby exploitation.

He's been doing this for years I believe.
