Another Affirmation to Marry Thread

Featured Replies

Hi Guy .
Currently in UK with Thai GF who is on tourist visa.
Coming back to Thailand end of January for 1 week to marry and get the ball rolling on a UK settlement/family visa. (no sucker for punishment jokes please)
I am Divorced from a Thai. only finalized the paperwork on that 6 months ago as was difficult to get her and me together to the amphur without a battle.
My divorce papers are in Thai with a translated UK version from a translator in chonburi,
I've been reading the process for getting the affirmation to marry and am now confused.

there is mention that since June 2018 if divorced the paperwork is different .. however all this seems to relate to if you had a prior British marriage . mine was in Thailand with no registration in England. so i don't have a UK decree absolute only the the thai amphur divorce papers.

also been looking at how to get the affirmation once i have paperwork .. i'm on tight timescale once i land in BKK .. only flying in to marry really .

is an appointment needed at the UK embassy . i read people saying get there early but on there website it says appointments and next one showing is end of February !

am i right in thinking reading none of this can be done at the thai embassy in london

is all of this something a visa agent or agent of some sort can do in advance for me ? or do i need to do it in person

Hi, You will definitely need an appointment. It used to be that you could just turn up but that is no longer the case as I discovered when doing the same as you.
