There are now two reliable places you can see Blacktip Reef Sharks – off the shores of Maya Bay and hanging in front of a restaurant in Karon.

Two blacktip reef sharks been discovered hanging in front of a seafood restaurant at Karon Beach.

A facebook user name ‘Sunshine Sketcher’ today posted a photo with the message read “This photo has been taken at a seafood restaurant at Karon Beach. It has been shared in foreign divers’ media group who are curious that this can be done? Many seafood restaurants like this are on the increase.”

I don't support the mass slaughter of sharks for the fin trade, but If they are not endangered and not caught in a closed area, they're just another fish for human consumption.

The number of sharks in the area, including blacktips, has decreased significantly these last years. For sure they were caught in a protected area, but the problem is how to proof that. Naming and shaming is the only way to stop this.

bet the inhabitants of reunion island would like to see more sharks on the menu

At least it is being fully made use of and not just being finned.
