BBB slow downloads with/wo VPN ?

hardware: Win 10/64 laptop with i7 and 16gb. ram

software: Nord VPN, qBittorrent

ISP: BBB, entry level plan

 

Until recently I was getting adequate download rates, but not now.

 

Advice ? (suicide is not an option)

Have you been downloading at high speeds and had it throttled by chance?  You do not mention any figures but most plans have a fair use policy so if you download at higher than about 30% of what is possible for an extended period they place limits on you.  I limit my 50/30 circuit to 1600KB/s download on another provider.  It often would be a bit above that with other family users watching video but not too much.

You can check if your ISP is throttling your data rate. Sometimes the data rates are throttled by the type of account. BitTorrent throttling is common. Below is just one of many pages that came up from a dickduckgo search:

You say you are using a VPN. Do you use the VP all of the time? Where is this VPN dumping you? If you are going overseas are all of the cables between here and your exit city good? Sometimes undersea cables need repair. You can use tracert in Windows to try and determine a problem. Try with the VPN on/off and see if there is a difference.

Interesting because of Northvpn. Without vpn I get download speeds of up to 80 or more. With vpn is comes to a crawl of under 10.

I don't mind paying . What gives you are reasonable speed?
