It makes me laugh when people on here say I fly economy but fly business when the company pays. Who do you think you are kidding.? You do not work for a company with links into Thailand so just be honest.

If your wife was a bar girl then admit it.

If you fly economy, just admit that too, there is no shame in it as 90% of us fly economy anyway.

All thes business trip Cr_ap is really annoying me!!!!

Be honest to yourself and other please.

Spartacus, lol.........

There are in fact many people who are based in Thailand and work for Companies who will pay for Business Class tickets.

Although it appears they are in huge numbers on this forum for some reason. Then again, the ammount of guys here that are also married to rich Thai Chinese women from influential families is also very high in percentage terms.

Also when guns are mentioned there are an extraordinary ammount of people on this Forum with Military backgrounds and are experts in weaponary of all types, including their bare hands that are also lethal weapons.

And they're all handsome too. :o

The world of Anonymous Internet Forums is a strange one.

buisness only on long haul flights 17+ hrs, less than 4 hr flights cheapest tickets humanly possible i really dont care, premium economy for 6-10 hr flights, sometimes i think pe is a better deal overall when compared to buisness class,

Unfortunately there are so many 'fakes' in Thailand. I just do not why the country entices people (well i do really). I remember sitting in Chequers Soi 4 one evening and this great big fat chap walks in. I over heard him chatting to a chap who had arrived that afternoon and was excited about being in BKK. This fat chap say's he works nights as 'London & New York' were open hinting he is a dealer or something to do with international trading. When he leaves this other guys looks behind him and says 'p_rick'!!! Apparently he is one of a million who has lost everything to bar girls and is a complete prat with no GBP or Baht in his name. I reckon he probaly flies 1st class as he owns an airline!!!

Why are there so many fakes whop roam the bars? Why can't people be honest with themselves? I hate fakes and hav eno time whatsoever for them. Go back to where you came from and live a normal life please.

Apoligies!!

Some of us get the UK govt to pay for our business class tickets.

Thank you Inland Revenue xx

Well I normally fly Economy Plus/Business. :o

International, we always fly at least business. Domestic is normally 'with the rest', especially now at we are looking at 50ish baht/£. We can put up with it for an hour or so.

I fly business. Not so much because I can afford it, but because flying scares the hel_l out of me and I am willing to pay to have that little bit of extra comfort. Also the reason why I spend all my holidays in Asia as the flights to Europe are way to expensive.

My wife and I almost always fly First Class and we fly very often. I enjoy being able to have the luxury of getting a good sleep on the international configured First Class flat bed seats with personal TV screens and lots of legroom.

I wish I could tell everyone that I fly First because I am very rich and have nothing better to do with my money but the fact is that it is because I spent 35 years flying in "cockpit class" (now retired airline pilot), and one of the perks is that I am now able to fly anywhere virtually free. I must admit, however, that even when I was flying 'cockpit class', it was nice on long international flights as we carried a relief crew so got to sleep about half the trip in either a bunk bed in the cockpit or a curtained off seat in First Class. "Life is Good" :D

ps... Whether you go economy class or decide to spend ten times more money to go First Class, it really doesn't matter as everyone gets to the destination safely at the same time which is really what it is all about . :o

I envy you, you sound like you have had /and are having a good life,.a great post,, thankyou, gordon

Helps to be foreign (as usual)..

I get to fly to my home country (Australia) twice a year and claim it as an expense.

Though as I'm currently not working, I have to pay for my upcoming jaunt to BKK and upgrade using the points I have accrued (at your expense).

In thailand I almost always use Business because it's so cheap. Don't believe me? On Sunday morning my friend had to fly BKK-HKT. Air Asia 4800 baht vs TG 3880 Royal Silk.

On long haul always business. Usually on EVA or Star Alliance. My last flight on UA wasn't worth the J Class fare though, so should have opted for premium economy although the UA flight was only 1 segment of a 4 segment trip. The easiest airline to redeem points with? Air Canada via Star Alliance. The hardest airline to get a seat on? Delta.

Biggest eyeopener? westJet, Canada's link to the USA's Southwest Airlines. Almost the same legroom and pitch on a WJ 737 4 hr flight as on an AC AB321. Service nicer too. The difference? A savings of $1500. by going economy vs business. I like business class, but sometimes it's not worth it.

After flying for the first time business class last year, the only time I'll sit back in economy is if the flight is a short one.

Never thought it was worth the extra $$$ but was I wrong. Even our 5 year old daughter noticed the difference and has asked when we're going on the plane again with the big comfortable lie down chairs again :o

What's the difference between First Class and Business Class anway? just curious as I thought Business was pretty dam_n good.

Sometimes there's no difference. On a number of flights on Northwest and Thai International, I was put right in with First Class, although I had bought a Business ticket.

If the family and I are travelling together, usually economy as we'll likely be flying to the UK and want to go direct, but Singapore Airlines biz class is well expensive, and if you pick the A380 flight, the cattle class seats are noticeably bigger than 'old school' economy class anyway, The three of us can sit together as it's 3-4-3 config downstairs. All in all, it's really quite tolerable, even for 13 hours...

If I am travelling alone, which I sometimes do to the UK, then I fly TG biz class SIN-BKK-LHR and pick the A340-600 flight ... the fares are very competitive vs SQ, and flying long haul economy alone is absolutely no fun...

Premium economy doesn't seem worth it for what you actually get? Qantas and BA offer it from SIN or BKK to LHR, but the fare is nearly as much as a TG biz class saver fare (plus I have a *A gold card so OneWorld miles less useful to me)

Thanks for that tw, i,ll see if it can be possible to justify it with the IR in the UK.

Once a year doesn,t seem unreasonable at the very least.

I am a United 1K, so I get 6 free system-wide upgrades.  I buy the cheapest economy and fly business. My business partner invarably flies with me once a year, so he buys two business class as he won't fly economy.  So most of my trans-pacific flights are business.

I upgraded us to first last year from a business class ticket, and it really wasn't worth it. Now United has the new lie-flat business class seats, I don't see why anyone would pay for first class.

I have only flown economy once across the Pacific in the last two years, and I get the exit row due to my FF status, so it really isn't bad.  I tie a blanket on the exit door handle, then put my feet in the loop.  I can sleep quite well there.

I did fly economy to India on JetAir, and that really sucked.  It was horrible.  And I flew economy to Lagos and to Vienna.  Those flights were on Emmirates and Swiss Air, and  they were not too bad.

Within SE Asia (from Bangkok) if 3-4 hours or less, often go with the low-cost airlines (Air Asia, Jetstar, etc.) for prices, unless flag carriers are running promos (which many are right now).

For the hop across the Pacific back to US West Coast, I have been taking business (EVA mainly) but am considering Econ-Deluxe for next flight in August. Due to the timing of the flights, basically, I sleep for almost 3/4 of the time and I'm thinking it's hard to justify the 3x price for business (compared to economy) when I'm basically asleep. With a xanax and a neck pillow, I can sleep almost as well in economy deluxe for half the price of business. As for entertainment, I take along my own selection of reading material, notebook, and iPod so fully covered.

EVA's lounges in BKK and SFO are nice but nothing super-luxe. The Taipei lounges are downright dowdy serving mostly crappy Chinese finger foods/drinks and are often very crowded. I don't really care about the food as I usually bring along a couple sandwiches whatever airline or class I'm flying as all airline food basically sucks. Extra baggage allowance is nice but not necessary. The separate check-in lines and priority boaring call always makes one feel special, however :o

Yes, I think I'll give EVA's econ-deluxe a try next.

thanks for that - considering how good we found business, I couldn't imagine First class being much better :o

I used to fly NWA a lot so I had a gold card and always got an upgrade from economy to business class on the Seattle to Narita leg of the flight. At narita they would bump me back to economy most of the time though. Too many Japanese flying business class i guess.

Another leg i got bumped to business class frequently was Seattle to Honolulu and back.

My father and I flew first class once on NWA. We were the only 2 in first class which meant the stewardess had nothing else to do but attend to us which was pretty nice since she was a relatively new attendant. Not like the battle axes we saw in business class. It seemed every time we fell asleep from all the alchohol we drank she woke us to give us more food. At the end of the flight she gave us a bunch of the small bottles of alcohol to put in our carry on.

Personally I would never pay for business class on NWA even if I could afford it. I have on TG when there was no other seats available and I had to get where i was going but the difference in price was not as drastic on NWA.

Depends where your flying to. Hardly worth it if your going to Cambodia. My flights are to OZ just 9 hours and I am tall so I always get an exit row as long as I can stretch my legs I'm happy. A 24 hour flight is another matter

I fly always Business / First Class.

Luckily my company pays for eveything. :D

Every month on Thai / Emirates.

Normally i will get upgrades on Emirates in about 25% of the time due to full plane.

Or when Business Class is full my company pays for First Class. :)

What's the difference between First Class and Business Class anway? just curious as I thought Business was pretty dam_n good.

A bit more privacy and sucking up from the cabin crew.

Depends on the airline.

I have only flown first class once, from Hong Kong to Mumbai and return on Cathay Pacific.

My company paid for business class, but because of a serious complaint just before my flight (from a colleague) I and my colleague were both given upgrades to first class for our next trips.

I had always thought "How can first class be all that different to business ?".

It was very different:

- They called to my home 4 hours before departure "Would you like us (Cathay first class base staff in HK) to call a taxi for you? And "Would you please call us when your about 15 to 20 minutes away from the airport".

- On arrival at airport, a first class supervisor met me at the taxi along with a porter, very pleasant, quickly took charge of my bags etc., and escorted me to first class check-in.

- Same supervisor escorted me to passport check and then right onto the aircraft, and ensured I was comfortable, and ensured further personal details had been passed to the cabin attendant who was to be my personal attendant. All done very quickly but were careful of all details, careful not to bother the passenger unnecessarily.

- After I got my self organized my persoanl attendant came again and asked if she could quickly check some details so that she could double check that services at my arrival destination (Mumbai) had been fully/correctly organized. She also quickly mentioned the additional services that were available in first class, including free fax services and more. This was followed by, "please don't hesitate to ask for anything".

- I learned later that the Cathay first class staff in HK had called both my secretary and my home to get some details of any food allergies, any favorite foods, champage and wine preferences, whether there was a family birthday or special event whilst I flying either leg, etc. They also asked for a quick description of what I looked like.

- After take off my personal attendant asked 'when would you like to eat, would you prefer to have some champagne or wine wine before your meal or wait until the meal is served etc.

- Food was excellent and not served by normal timed procedure. Choice of four appetizers, and four main courses, including what had been mentioned as a favorite. Attendant also mentioned "would you like me to bring the four appetizers / four main courses so that you can select something from all four ?"

- And more.....

- Just before arrival my attendant asked If a would please get my passport and other documents ready, she completed the arrival card.

- On arrival in Mumbai, a Cathay officer (Hong Kong person) escorted me from the aircraft to passport control with another Cathay employee carrying my cabin bag etc. Whilst passport was being checked another Cathay employee arrived with my check-in bag, and politely mentioned that he would travel with me in the Cathay car to my hotel. And he stayed with me until I was in my room, ensuring that I was satisfied and also asked If he could make any arrangements for taxi etc., when I needed to go my company office, etc. During the trip to hotel he gave me his cell number and his supervisors cell number and said, please call for anything.

About 24 hours before return departure time Cathay called to ask: do you need to perhaps change your flight / if not can we please agree a time for Cathay staff to pick you up at your hotel. All very polite.

- All contact I had with the first class staff was very personal, all very good listeners, and it never sounded like they were 'completing the procedure'.

It was different to business class.
