Bad Thai plumbing

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what this plug is for?

It is in my mate’s condo bathroom, he’s on the ground floor.

I thought the builders place them in common areas to allow workers to access.

I’ve had a look at other ground floor units they do not have these.

  • A lot of people dont realise that Thailand often has bell traps, the floor/shower waste is the trap, there is no trap under the floor. you need to keep water in the bell trap and cleaning ladies love

The brass plate is usually for septic tank access to pump it out.

Yes, that would be the logical thing to do, mine in in the middle of a concrete walkway at the back of the house I live in. Accessible but not very practical.

Unless the lid has been used to plug another type of hole I would say your mate has been very unfortunate, hopefully it doesn’t need emptying while he stays there !!
