Hi everyone,

Here is my case,

I'm french, i arrived to Bangkok by plane and got a free 30 days visa.

I left to Cambodia to meet friends after 4 days in BK, spent a week, and now i want to go back to Thailand and my previous visa is still not arrived to expiration date.

I found everything and it's opposite on the internet so i ask it here.

- Will i have to extend my previous visa or will i get a new one ?

- Will i have to pay for extension or renewal by land ? By plane ?

- How many days can i have until the day i cross the border by land ? By plane ?

Thanks in advance.

You did not have a visa. You had a 30 day visa exempt entry. It ended when you left the country.

You will get a new 30 day vise exempt entry next time you enter Thailand. It does not matter when that it is.

Note that there is a limit of 2 visa exempt entries by land per year.

Thank you for your response.

So, free new 30 days visa even by land ? Because now i have to choose between returning by bus or by plane.

My go to option would be bus because cheapest, but i've heard about 15 days only visa by land and i need 30.

Thanks again for your fast answer.

You never had a visa as explained above. When you enter Thailand again you can by visa exempt. Which is 30 days. I'm just pointing out that depending how long you wish to stay in Los you can obtain a 30 day extension (once) on that VE. Meaning for your next visit you could stay up to 60 days if you obtain an extension.

1900BAHT at immigration.

Thank you so much, so just to be sure (because my english is not so good):

if now, i re-enter Thailand before my previous free visa exempt expiration date by bus, i will get a new free visa exempt for 30 days i can extend for 30 more days and for 1900 bahts ?

Correct. Enter tomorrow. Get a permission to stay until 1 Mar. Before 1 Mar, go to an immigration office, pay 1900 Baht and get permission to stay until 31 Mar.

P.s. If you are coming from Cambodia by land, try to avoid the Poipet crossing. It may be okay but it is a very problematic crossing (corruption, delay, demands for extra money). Try to use one of the other crossings.

Thank you so much guys, anyway i don't need extension.

I heard about Poipet issues, what are others/best options?

I also heard about a bus company that cross by Poipet but does not stop, avoiding corruption issue. Do you know something about that ?

Where are you coming from in Cambodia, where are you heading to in Thailand?

Since you have been out of the country for a while you should not have a problem at Poipet. It is people that are trying to just cross the border from here and return to get a new entry that have problems.

The bus would have to stop long enough for you to get be stamped out of Cambodia and a entry stamp at Thai immigration,

Think your bit confused. When you leave Thailand your current 30 stamp is finished. You can reenter Thailand anytime. One week or one year etc. Anytime

This is, of course, correct with respect to Thai Immigration.

However, Cambodian Immigration and their affiliated touts love to prey on foreign tourists who may be unfamiliar with the crossing. This means the tourist gets through as you correctly say, but may incur unnecessary costs so @Leothil if you choose Poipet, be aware of touts and irregular demands for money.
