Lion dances are performed in Suphanburi province on Friday to welcome the Chinese New Year festival.

BANGKOK — Thailand is expected to receive a large influx of visitors for Chinese New Year, raising hope among officials that a rebound in mainland arrivals is underway.

Up to 325,000 Chinese travelers are projected to visit the kingdom to celebrate the Year of the Pig, according to a forecast published by Kasikorn Bank, while an aviation official said at least 13,330 flights will arrive at Bangkok’s two international airports.

Your like a wizard.

Using your amazing math, it doesn't seem like the influx of masses the media made it out to be.

I am a sheep no more, thank you.????

It was my amazing MATHematicS !

I would guess the number of flights had an extra 0 put on it.

13,330 flights divided by 14 days

divided by 2 (in and out) to get just an arriving number of flights

divided by 4 (airports) = 120 flight incoming per day.

But some would be already on normal scheduling so a wild guess 80% are extra flight

80% of 120 = 96 extra flight per day at each of 4 airports.

Is that feasible in terms of how many extra flights the traffic controllers and all the other airport infrastructure could handle?

Are there enough tours bused to handle the influx?

And have all the boats etc., around Phuket and the islands been re-inspected and are rated and certified to world class for safety, seaworthiness etc etc? And will there be officials watching every boat for overloading, enough correct life jackets? And will there be monitors to monitor the officials to keep them honest?

Seven days, two airports, "13,330" flights makes about 1900(!) flights to DMK and BKK per day. Even with a 24 hour nonstop operation this would be about 80 flights/hour(!!!).

What an utter BS.

(or the world is coming to an end)

Official needs spectacles and a calc app.

Just checked the FlightRadar24.com. Around 1900 flights did arrived and departed DMK and BKK in last 24 hours. With this traffic, they can hit the 13,300 flights target in 7 days.

So it's going to take 7 days to get so many hundreds of thousand's of people to Thailand for an event that lasts 2 that's two days. Looks like Kasikorn bank has been reading too much TAT B.S.

And as I said earlier, 13300 flights with 325000 pax = 24 pax per flight.

If as you say 1900 flights arrived and departed in 24 hours at 2 airports. 1900/2 (in-out) /2 airports/24 hours = 20 flights per hour = One evry THREE MINUTES 24 hours per day at both airports. It ain't possible. And that's doing the MATHS in my head.

I sincerely hope they are all bringing industrial quality air masks. Has anyone ever seen worse air in the capital? What is going on? Why this year? I do not ever remember it being this bad, especially for such a sustained period. The lung hospital in Nonthaburi must be filled to capacity.

Actually, both BKK and DMK airports are already doing one departure and one arrival flights every 3 minutes. I have seen long queue of planes on DMK taxi way waiting to take off. First one at the top of the queue enter the run way and took of and within a minute, second plane enter the runway.

Below are this morning traffic at DMK

DMK Departures (1 departure every 3 minutes)

Yes, both airports are doing 1900+ flights per day now. It is very easy to fact check from those real time flight tracker sites.

I take it the flights are coming in full and going out empty or there could not be the influx of Chinese we are told, 325,000

Of those 950 ARRIVING flights, let's say 25% of them are regular, so roughly 712 extra PER DAY, which over 5 days for example, to get 'em all here before New Year, is 3562 flights.

325000 on 3562 flights = 91 pax per flight. It doesn't make sense to me.

Too bad those real time flight tracker sites can't show the breakdown of the nationalities of the passengers ????

They CAN show the origin of the flight.

Whatever, I can't be bothered to carry on, I know that the figures which the government offcial or whoever gave (325000 and 13330 flights) are WRONG.
