Bank Statement For Settlement Visa

Featured Replies

Sa wad dee ka,

I am back to get some advise again. I apologized for too much question about settlement in the UK. I got everything cover but my husband just told me that he doesn’t has a bank statement. He used to use his mom’s bank account for wages but now he has opened his own account. He can only supply one month statement and one wage slip right now.

He got the same job (landscape gardener) at the same company that he was work last year. He took 2 months (Nov-Dec.) vacation and went back to get this job again. He is under contract with this company until Nov 07. He cannot break this contract also. According to this forum, I know he must show last 6 mos bank statements and last 3 wage slips. My question is:

  • Should we have to wait until we got 6 mos bank statements?
  • We both are 26 yrs old and we have to support ourselves for this settlement. Can I use my mom’s bank statement from US to support me to go there?
  • After married, I didn’t change my last name to my husband last name yet. All my ID, house register, and passport are still under my last name. Do I need to change it before I fill out the VAF 2 form? I don’t know if I changed to my husband last name, it will affect the land that I own or not.
  • If we are stay apart for long time, it will be a problem when I file for settlement visa? We are still talk to each other everyday since he went back to UK on Jan.

Regards,

Lynn

Hi lynn,

If your husbands wages are paid into his mum's account then you should explain this to the embassy when you apply, get his mum to write a short letter to confirm this too.

The statements will show that the money coming in is from his employer and they will see from his wage slips that they match up together.

Good luck to you and your husband

i was informed by members of this site that it wouldnt be a problem if i had no bank statement , all the needed was emmployment letter and tenancy agrement?

Proving that you and your spouse can be maintained, i.e bank statements and wage records are one of the main criteria for any visa application, i have never heard in any case that they were not needed!

Maybe one of the other guys could clear this up? scouse?

I can't specifically recall THAIJKD's circumstances, but supporting documentation will vary from case to case as no two people's circumstances are identical. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what is supplied with the visa application as long as it establishes that the applicant meets the relevant criteria of the immigration rules. However, having said that, bank statements are one of the best ways of demonstrating the ability to meet the financial requirements of the rules.

Scouse.

1) Six months statements would be best but as your husband doesn't have them, send what he has. Maybe he has 2 or 3 by the time that you apply. Your husband will have to sponsor you and in his covering letter he should explain why he only has 2 or 3 bank statements. Then if his mother could also write a letter with copies of her bank statements showing his salary going in.

I believe that you have previously said that you husband has been in Thailand and thus not working so he should also state that in his letter. He was in Thailand to get married and stay with his wife and has now returned to UK and has a contracted job with a future so that you can live together.

He can send a copy of his works contract with his sponsorship and maybe he can get a letter from his employer stating he previously worked with him prior to going to Thailand confirming his salary.

2) Your mothers U.S.bank account wont help you with this application

3) There is no need to change you name to your husbands. It will be easier to keep all your ID with the same name. Even when you go to UK you can continue to use your separate family names, In fact it may be necessary as to open a bank account etc you will need to show ID and that will be your passport with your thai family name.

4) Provided you remain in contact and can prove that it shouldn't matter when you make your application, but try to make it this year.
