Thai passport renewal (after 5 years) Transfer of U.K. Visa?

Featured Replies

Thai Passports, after 5 years, do Thai Passports get extended for a further 5 years "on renewal", or is it a totally new document now and you have to get a UK Visa transferred to the new document? (In Thailand)

Any recent Experiences?

Thanks

If the visa is still valid when a new passport has been issued the holder can carry both passports when travelling and show the valid visa in the expired passport when checking in and at the UK Border, the passport may have expired but the visa is still valid, my wife has done this a few times.

You can pay to transfer the visa to the new passport but it costs £169 and it's not necessary, unless there's a name change or one of a number of other changes of the applicant.

Thai passports don't get extended but I understand that at some time in the future new Thai passports may well have a validity of ten years.

That's great ???? , thanks for that reply, was worried that we would have to do another trip to Bangkok. The main reason for having Ten year Visa is due to it being normally awkward ( to specifically spend time ie. using leave from work) applying for a Visa and having enough leave left to go to the UK, if the opportunity arises at short notice.
