Good morning all,

Looking for some simplifies information on getting my child the right documents after they are born in 6 weeks. My husband is from South Africa and I am Irish/South African.

We plan on moving back to Ireland in October this year.

Could anyone explain how I go about getting an Irish passport for my baby?

The consulate says I will need a Thai Birth cert translated into English but as we are not Thai our baby will not be issued an official birth cert at birth, rather just a form issued at the hospital.

Can I use this to register on the foreign birth reg?

Do I need to apply for any other birth cert?

Any info would be much appreciated.

TIA

Your baby will be issued a Thai birth certificate. Take it to a translating office then your embassy. Maybe you can wait until you get back to Ireland.

One problem I had was that the administering said I couldn't have middle names for my kids, which is not true, so I made then do it.

If you need help writing the banner of your baby in Thai, I, or others could help.

At Bamrungrad, they were very helpful with this.
