U.S. Mission Thailand Reports U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index (AQI) for Bangkok and Chiang Mai

February 21, 2019

Bangkok, THAILAND

The U.S. Mission in Thailand has started reporting the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index (AQI) for Bangkok and Chiang Mai calculated from hourly air pollution data captured by monitors owned and maintained by the Royal Thai government.  The U.S. EPA AQI and additional details are available on the Embassy’s website:

https://th.usembassy.gov/air-quality-index-aqi/.  This AQI reporting can help U.S. citizens in Bangkok make health-related air quality decisions.  Thailand’s reported AQI is comprised of multiple pollutants but does not directly correspond to the U.S. EPA AQI used by and familiar to U.S. citizens.

The United States is working with partner countries, including Thailand, to raise awareness concerning the health costs of air pollution and to increase air pollution monitoring capabilities.

The world as we know it will end in 12 years (AOC) and we're supposed to get worked up about a little smog?
