Video: Fire rages at Pattaya chemical factory

A video on The Pattaya News showed fire raging at a factory in the Takhian Tia sub-district of Bang Lamung in the Pattaya area.

Rescue services still did not have the fire extinguished after more than two hours though it appeared to have been controlled.

The fire was at Phim Pattaya Company that is a storage facility for chemicals used in the automotive industry.

Bang Lamung district chief Amnat Charoensri, Bang Lamung police, firemen and rescue services were all on the scene of the fire early Tuesday evening.

Is the chemical factory located in the correct zone?

Does it have a trained safety person and the correct professional equipment?

When was it last inspected by any government official? And what did the report say?

This is Thailand, and " correct " zones do not exist for Haz Chem or any other commercial activity that may endanger public health.

The Company will probably have a designated safety person, but correctly trained ?  and there will probably be an old out of date small Fire Extinguisher stuffed in a corner somewhere.

As for the the third thing ???????

It's the fire season - one (was) started up outside our mooban last night (always after dark.)  Lots of plastic rubbish being burnt by the smell.  No public outcry; no police; just airborne lung cancer.
