Eemi is cheerful and can interact normally with people who have come to visit him, Dr Songwut said. Photo: Photo: Sutee KrabI

PHUKET:-- Five-year-old Finnish boy Eemi Nikula, mauled by stray dogs at Ao Nang Beach in Krabi last Wednesday, was finally cleared by doctors to fly home yesterday. His family wasted no time. They boarded a flight that departed Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok at 1:20am today (Feb 28).

Eemi and his family departed Thailand on Qatar Airways Flight QR 837, which touched down at Doha at 5:25am.

In the attack by strays on Ao Nang Beach last Wednesday (Feb 20), Eemi suffered scratches and bites to his torso, back and buttocks and has a wound about five centimetres long on his right calf.

You can almost hear them telling everyone back home who will listen dont go to Thailand the dogs are very dangerous and can attack for no reason and maybe kill your child or even you . Sad but the reality is that Thai take no responsibity in taking control of their dogs and most are just allowed to roam free and foam packs that can and do attack others including us humans .

"OK cute little Farang boy, good as new now. Come back when you are old enough and we will arrest you for vaping."

Wasn't this the boy with a near lacerated throat? In critical condition? The boy who the hospital so generously offered to "cover medical expenses beyond insurance"? The one that the room-full of officials visited, to utilize as a photo-op? With no solutions proposed, and the pack in question still roaming the beach, waiting to kill the next child who wanders from their guardian?

Nice to see the photo-ops have given an opportunity to soften that up. "Scratches and bites".

No photo op from the parents. Although his Father thanked the staff for all their care and attention it appears that they could not wait to get out of Thailand. Cannot say I blame them after what happened.

I'd bet twenty baht the dogs didn't wai, another twenty the dogs were not fined.

On the latest update, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha who was in his duty at Krabi, also visited the boy before he went back to Bangkok. very nice of him
