Almost every time I use CC Cleaner I get the following message.

"This application is taking a long time too close.

Would you like to force it too close?"

Does anyone else ever get this? I get it regularly on both my desktop and laptop

Should I force it to close? Why are they giving me a choice?

You can do all the cleaning via PC Settings/System/Storage.

Any malware/viruses should have been caught by Defender.

Glary Utilities gets good reviews.

Yeah, I use it too but don't see the message. I do close all applications before running it.

I get that message, usually referirng to a browser thats been left open with multiple tabs.

As suggested above, close everything before running, but in my experience it hasnt done any harm letting CC close anything. The option is given in case there is something open you maybe havnt yet saved, and rather than lose it, they give you the choice of any last minute save etc that you may want.

I find it a useful additional program to have for "house-keeping"

Thanks, I don't use Chrome, but will set CC Cleaner to clean on start up and see if that helps.

All other applications running need to be closed for CCC to do its job .

Could be that its not CCC that needs to close , its the other applications , like web browsers ect

Yes thats why clean on startup is good as it clean before any browsers open, and computer gets clean on every startup, perfect solution i feel

I never get that message because I never use CC cleaner because I never install any crap on my PC. Problem solved.

So I suppose I install crap on mine?

That's what I will do.

That is a general issue. Edge is firmly intertwined with the OS, so whilst you might not have started Edge yourself, there may be other processes that are connected to aspects of it.

So that is perhaps why you need to force it to shut down before you can properly clan up.

Thanks Charlie, I'll try that.

I am sure that's what the advertisement tell us.

And I guess if people install useless programs and add-ons (like those utilities which are supposed to make the PC faster) CC might remove them.

That's why it's a good idea to think twice what you install.

I read once a long article in a renowned computer magazine about registry cleaners. Many pretend to clean up the registry and that's the way to make the computer a lot faster.

What these experts did was that they filled up the registry with lots of crap. They made it 10 times bigger than original with useless entries. And they tested the PC performance before and after. What was the result: It was all the same! A registry with lots of extra entries did not make the computer slower. So therefore any tools which cleans up the registry won't make the PC faster. qed

OK , what "crap" does CCC fill peoples computers up with ?

What exactly are you talking about ?

CCC removes things like history , computer log reports , outdated useless files and various other things that slow down your computer

Absolutely correct.

OP, if you are getting this message every time, just try using Ccleaner after a fresh start of your PC without opening any other programs.

What has that post to do with CCleaner?

Whilst I understand your point about people installing useless programs, CCleaner actually does a good job of cleaning up Temporary files that can grow and grow over time.

So I think you went a bit off-topic with the whole useless programs/add-ons etc, as that isn't necessarily what CCleaner does.

It will make no difference. You simply don't understand the issue.

Aspects of Edge are hooked into many different processes. So when you turn on the PC, Edge and these processes are often pre-loaded. So he will get exactly the same message on first use.

But it isn't an issue. Just let CCleaner force shutdown.

Why ONLY on his PC? Mine too runs Edge, but I never get the message.

Yes, I simply don't understand the issue.
