Is Thai Visa just one more Form of Digital Entertainment?

Featured Replies

I love TV for the valuable information and intelligence on changes to regulations  etc that it gives me and many others, However, over the past year or so, it has also become a source of entertainment for me. I don't like the trolling, or the cynicism,  or the Thai bashing that does go on. but I do like the banter, especially if its funny, clever and original.  I quite like the responses from some posters, who obviously enjoy the exchange of wit and sarcasm (not the harmful kind, but the funny kind) that sometimes appears in posts. I find other forums in Thailand get very bent out of shape when faced with swift and cutting repartee,  but I like the more relaxed approach of many of the moderators here, provided post are made with a sense of fun and not nastiness. You can stick to the rules and still been entertaining and entertained

For around a dozen members who do the world politics its a great source of confirmation bias. Which is good for the forum business. It's a website that's likely past its peak and I would be surprised

Well it's definitely digital.

Entertaining?? Sometimes.

EDIT By "digital" does our OP mean "middle digit"?

I, personally, use my thumb. But, then again, I always post from my phone.

I like to think of Thai Visa as a source of good information, and also a venue for extracting the urine.

Its my chance to speak english. There are 11 other guys here that are pretty smart too.

Once I head back to Blighty, I can haunt the food Topics to give helpful advice such as...Looking for a good steak in Phitsanalok are you? Well I dont know about there, but here I am at Ruth Cris's having a 48oz Ribeye, Medium Rare........have a pic, see......nomnomnom

I'll let the bit about Americans speaking English pass as a bit of risibility.

I can't let the remark about steak pass, you sadist. You have me drooling at the prospect of an eye fillet steak from Gippsland accompanied with a good shiraz. So tender it can be cut with a fork, cattle get fed real grass in Oz. None of this feedlot crap. About 200 gm, we modernised to a metric system back in 1966. Isn't it time for you guys to catch up?

What is it about Americans that they obsess on size? 48 oz ribeye? Really? Steaks, mammaries, butts, vehicles, desserts - they all have to be jumbo. Were you all bottle-fed as babies? It's one explanation for your sense of deprivation, and ensuing compensation.

OK, rant over. Do your worst, I'm looking forward to it.

and here's a man who likes Vegemite, enough said.

Just another example of my good taste. Impossible to explain to someone who is not Australian, like trying to explain sex to a eunuch.

Jealousy does not suit you O Great Humongous. Anything less than 48 oz isnt a steak, its an appetiser.

How many Americans are there that speak English? How many descendants-of-the-dregs-of-an-effete-washedup-world-power there in the Great Karoo speak a variation of the mother tongue? Yep. Dialect. Sort of like those inbred dudes in W. Virginia. Dialect.

Yeah lift that Shirazz pinky and have a mouthful of the same stuff that your forebearers used to make grog with when locked up in Port Arthur......you can take the country out of the prison, but you cant take the prison out of the country!

What i see lately is too many posts by (so called)new members

who all have a story that is too far fetched!

What surprises me is that they get a lot of (mostly)serious response.

I commented somewher that i will not be responding these kind op posts anymore.Maybe not complete trolls but complete something else.!I still read them just to see where it goes and usually it ends in a p*ssing contest.

Anything for a click i guess.

Not really because TV is doing anything wrong. I think more people are leaving Thailand like I did than are moving to Thailand. TV was more entertaining a few years back.

Tv is more than entertainment a lot of good info is shared here. However a part of TV is entertainment. Sometimes using this site is a bit like being a Chinese tourist getting off the bus and walking around boyztown and soi 6 to gawk at the freak show. Lot's of folks here have gone full blown troppo. Which is entertaining.

Where else can you find a group of aged men who ramble on about economics and world wide trade policies but send their wife to buy flip flops for them because they can't win a deal?

whenever I call BS on these obvious BS topics my comment just disappears without explanation.

what I am worried about is spending too much time on TV.

It is Saturday night and I should be out having fun. Oh wait. I forgot. I live in Hua Hin.

There. that is four comments in a row.

I have learned to ignore certain posts where posters pat themselves on the back to feel relevant...a dose of reality interjected into their fantasy will be swiftly dismissed by those who defend their alternate universe...birds of a feather...

I'll have you know Sir Les Patterson is one of our most famous cultural exports.

I have to agree with you. We are so obsessed by Port Arthur we voluntarily surrendered our semi-automatic weapons to our warders in the aftermath of 1996, and haven't had a mass shooting since. Whereas Americans still have their freedom to own whatever they want. How we envy you.

Thats because you are subjects, not citizens.

There you go again. We have about 24 million, against your 330 odd million. It's about quality, not quantity.

People don't buy an i-Phone because it's the size of a house brick. They buy it because it's small, functional and has a lot of desirable features. Just like Australians.

Ask any US military commander what they think about Australian soldiers. They rate them higher than their own troops. Small but effective.
