In all-too real news - the Dow Jones Avg. dropped over 500 points yesterday following China's 9% equities market slide.

Can't wait to see what the market in the US will do today... :o

It is excellent and a bit too true. Most news these days is just a load of tabloid <deleted>. Is that nasty enough for ya?

was listening to the radio whilst in the gym this lunchtime...

the reporter said something about another Soldier killed in Iraq - could have been Brit or US, didnt quite hear as she then went on to say:

"and the main story this lunchtime - Britney coulnd be battling a drug problem, we hear from another patient in the same rehab.."

its a fking disgrace - as usual, it amazes me that the BBC allow these half wit reporters to glam up some story about some soppy washed up fking popstar and headline on the news...

ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! :o

i need to go sit down - excuse me

What is that all about after I just made you parade mascot? You wanna park eternally on the loofah in the Terminator's tub?

In keeping with the title of this thread, here are a few headlines:

Russia denies role in ex-spy death, and Santa denies role in Christmas

Hillary invites Obama for cup of "Russian tea" to settle differences

Media clamors to find reason to blame Bush for Lebanon riots.

Scientists: Global Warming to blame for dwindling numbers of Yeti sightings.

Fitzgerald to prosecute Ann Coulter for disclosing identity of presidential candidate John Edwards :o

the founder of the Pacifica Foundation in the US (noncommercial community radio: KPFK in LA, KPFA in Berkeley and another in New York City) resigned his post as an announcer on a commercial radio station when he was expected to advertise dog food after reporting on a natural disaster in Asia with the loss of hundreds of lives...

good on him...

I saw Walter Cronkite on his nightly news broadcast after watching a clip of Chicago police brutality during the 1968 Democratic convention protests when he turned to the camera and said 'this is the beginning of a police state in America'...what courage...but, of course, no one was gonna mess wid 'ol uncle Walter...(no disrespect...Walter Cronkite is my uncle just like millions of americans of my generation...)

Bizarre, Tutsi.

Yep, the real news is getting backburnered these days it seems, and what there is of it is so mangled with political twists it's hardly worthy of a read. I miss the old Intl Herald Trib; the new tone (well, for the past few years) is straight out of the donkey's mouth. Missing reporting that isn't opinionated.

Yep...mangled with political twists is certainly the operative term here. And, speaking of 'mangled' news, it doesn't get better than ole Gunga Dan Rather, eh? :o

True...but a pity; I never reckoned Dan would go along with "Ms Marple"'s flimsy attack. I always respected the man previously. Bad way to torpedo a long career.
