International Drivers License - Pattaya?

Featured Replies

I am going to be traveling to Spain.  I will need an International Drivers License to rent a car.  I only have a U.S. drivers license.  Is anyone aware if there are any locations in Pattaya that can issue an international license or am I going to have to take my chances with one of the online services.

The Department of Land Transport are the issuing body in Thailand for international drivers licenses.

They will only issue an international drivers license to holders of a Thai 5 year or Thai lifetime license.

An IDP (international driving permit) can only be issued by the respective government offices.

As written in previous post, you could get that in Thailand only if holding a 5 year Thai driving license. And the only site in Pattaya would be the DLT (Department of Land Transport).

I am afraid that this is just a rip-off. You would get some nice booklet from some private automobil club ("IAA"). They are clever enough to tag it "international translation of ..."

Professionals will not fall for this. No legal worth.

Still many falling into this trap.

I don't have a solution for you.

Other ideas?

Getting IDP from USA without appearing in person?

The toy thing: DON'T!
