I graduated from a Thai university in December and my Non immigrant ED visa expires on 7th April 2019.

I didn't cancel my visa with my past uni because I wanted to continu on a master in Bangkok but in another Uni and the Thai lady in charge of the international student at my uni told me that I could just switch from one uni to another one and that I didnt need to get a cancellation letter from Immigration Office.

The problem is that I had my last exam in December 2018 but the master I applied (and got accepted) starts in June 2019 and my visa expires in April 2019. I just read on other threads that when you graduate from a Thai uni you should leave after your last day of class or after your last exams.

So I'm techinically overstaying for 90 days and more because my last of class was on 15th December 2018.

My questions is :   -I'm planning to leave Thailand before my visa expires so before 7h April, will I get in troubles at the airport because I didnt properly get a cancellation letter for my ED visa ?

                           - My friends recommended me to fly out and do a NEW passport in my homecountry then apply for a New Ed visa for my Master In June, Will I get in troubles at the immigration office when going for an extension of stay with a NEW passport ?

No problem when leaving from an airport. They do not ask to see a letter from your university.

No need for a new passport IMO. If you get a new one it will not be a problem to apply for another extension.

No issues at the airport - they don't know.

If you did need a new passport - this assumes the IO for your Next ED extension would see the old ED extension(s), and start asking about why the last extension was not "officially cancelled," and what date was your last day of class/exams, and comparing to when you left, then considering overstay-charges.  I don't know if that is likely to happen or not, but your extension did become invalid on your last class/exam day.

But, if doing the new passport, no need to go all the way to your passport-country for that.  You could get a new passport at your embassy anywhere (time and availability depending on your nationality) - make it into a little trip - then return and proceed with the ED for your next studies.  I do not know if that would be a 100% sure-way to avoid issues with overstaying your last extension - as they might still notice it was not officially canceled - but it might prevent those types of questions from arising.

Hello. I am in the same situation as you and is planning to get a new passport in my home country and come back with a new masters visa. I understand that there will be no problem when you apply for a new visa under ur masters with a new passport in your home country but did you face any problems when you went to extend your master visa after the 3 months when you are in thailand?
