It is at the point where I am genuinely embarrassed for my British friends.

Leaving the EU without some kind of transition agreement in place is like moving out of your flat when you have no other housing lined up, but this seems to be what the UK is going to do. Or, it'll stay in after proclaiming loudly for years that it is leaving.

Either way;

Never before have I seen a country so utterly determined to shoot itself in the crotch.

(Even the DUP start thinking different..... :clap2: Brexit ...the story ...the joke ..)

DUP deputy leader: I'd rather stay in EU than back Theresa May deal

Brexiter Nigel Dodds cannot accept withdrawal agreement bringing internal barriers to UK

The deputy leader of the DUP said on Friday he would rather see the UK stay in the European Union than back the withdrawal agreement.

Yes, Latin is dead, just like democracy.

Surprisingly useful though for learning a lot of European languages as they are largely based on it.  Once you have coped with the intricacies of Latin grammar the rest are relatively easy.

Leave Latin alone.

I very likely have the largest private collection of Classical Latin texts in Thailand. These are far from meaningless or dead.

The history of the Gracchi is of particular topical interest.

WRONG!!!  The UK would be leaving under WTO rules, whereby they can set their own trade tariffs.

They can set zero trade traiffs with the EU if they wish and provided the EU reciprocates.

Wait and see how quickly Merkel will  want to deal once the UK operates with WTO rules

Hardly at all as Merkel is not standing for re-election and the UK produces virtually nothing now that Germany actually wants. Thatcher , that other evil women saw to that. Why is it that these two Tory women have damaged the UK economy far more than Hitler did or even aspired to ?

But would you stay in that flat if your neighbours told you what you could or could not do and kept interfering in your business?

I Always thought, that was in ANY appartement building. Or are you such a person, who opens the "noice-boxes" at 3 o'clock at night ?

Remind also: every step, every regulation, every directive a British representative was in, and voted for : "yes". In the council of Ministers of the council of government leaders = prime minister !

I want to remind you to the economic situation UK was in at the begin of the 70-s. One big disaster.

yes it was, but so was France, Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal. Only Germany and the Netherlands were thriving, Germany on the back of everyone else.

Yes, 10% import duty on cars and a LOT of Industrial products into the EU. Bye bye Nisan - Sunderland, bye Honda, back to Japan as no import duty into the EU from there, and Mini.. will be manufactured in Borne - Limburg - NL. Airbus.. gone. 13.7% import duty on sweets, confectionary etc, meat products, thanks to vertinary regulations: forget it.

The new slogan for tourism to Europe: "come to experience Europe, your job is already there"...

A typical sign of intelligence… Why you think so many still learn Latin ? To learn the way grammar is built up, and improve your reading, as many languages in Europe are based on that, especially the "Latin" languages.

When you know 2 languages, you are bi-lingual

When you know 3 languages, you are triple-lingual

When you know 4 languages, you are a genius

When you know 1 language.. you are British...

Given that it seems only doctors used Latin maybe they should have spent more time on handwriting exercises.

May was installed to make sure Brexit never happened despite the appearance of pulling out all the stops. She deserves many acting awards.

And yet she was endorsed by Johnson, Rees Mogg, Gove and Fox amongst many more Brexiteers at the time.  And now those same pathetic creeps have voted for her deal.  Blame her for being stupid enough to grasp the poisoned chalice but she was merely a pawn in the game.

Leaver voters have been let down dreadfully over the Brexit they thought they were voting for but blame the people responsible for the lies and not the fall guy.

The fatal mistake was made on day one after Article 50 was triggered.  We should have sat down in the negotiating room and said to the EU people, "okay mateys, we're off, then sat back  and said nothing more until they came up with a deal".

They had already told Cameron that they wouldn't give Britain a favourable deal if we chose to leave.  That was before the vote but the Brexit Campaigners were singing from a different hymn sheet.  Nobody can say they weren't warned because they were.  What should have happened was a deal should have been negotiated and then a referendum once we knew the consequences.  Instead we just went with the bulls*it and it has cost us dearly.

Very true but unfortunately if you visit Luton, Leicester and Bradford in the UK, to name only 3,  you will understand that fluency in English is not predominant.  In fact until the revision of the nationality act in 1981 you could become a British citizen by virtue of marriage to a British citizen. Hence all the pseudo Indian doctors allowed in from India/Pakistan Uganda etc  and given UK citizenship, could get their wives in and granted citizenship without speaking a word of English. As I say up to 1981. No wonder the EEC ,as it was then, become concerned with the UKs motives and proceedures..
