best rate on sending money out of Thailand in CM ?

Featured Replies

Now that I know you can't send  $ out using TransferWise, I am wondering how to send some to the US ... not a large amount. The person I want to send to doesn't have PayPal, so I assume that's out ... not sure if I could use PayPal for that, anyway, although I use it regularly to pay on-line vendors outside the Kingdom.

I assume Western Union is expensive. I haven't checked with Bangkok Bank yet to see what the charges are.

Just in case someone knows a reliable, cheaper, way.

Deemoney seems to be what people use, although the rates may not be as good as Banks

Can do it in CM or do you have to go to a branch in BKK?

They have an app, I think you can sign up online with that

Update: went to the Pantip Plaza BB Branch yesterday; was told they could not do BIC SWIFT transfers on weekends; and, wouldn't you know, Monday is a holiday.

I was quoted a rate of 31.08 for buying dollars: there was a fee option; I pay 1200 baht and the recipient pays nothing, or, I pay 400 baht and the recipient pays an amount they don't know.

Western Union was an option: that would have cost 33.8 to buy dollars.

So, Tuesday AM it is, and, of course, the rates may change.
