Keep kicking the can down the road, have a remainer in charge of the brexit negotiations (Ollie Robbins) and frustrate the Brexit secretary (2 resigned remembers). The plan has been clear since the beginning and I am surprised you can't see that. Most people I know see very clearly. Lesson for next time: if you don’t take the drivers seat, someone else will. Laughing Gravy
The future of the EU. Good luck Brussels. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/world/alliance-of-far-right-parties-will-end-eu-nightmare-says-salvini-d57dq5x02 Alliance of far‑right parties will end EU nightmare, says Matteo Salvini Europe’s leading hard-right parties have announced an alliance that they say will become the biggest force in the European parliament, curtailing the “nightmare” of federalism and blocking illegal migration. “We’re working for a new European dream. Today for many citizens and peoples, the European Union represents a nightmare,” said Matteo Salvini, 46, the Italian deputy prime minister, who took the stage in Milan at a press conference yesterday with Jörg Meuthen, 57, chairman of the far-right Alternative for Germany party (AfD). “We want to build a fortress in Europe,” said Mr Meuthen, who said that Mr Salvini, who is leading the alliance, would make a perfect president of the European Commission after European parliamentary elections in May. The two men were joined in Milan by leaders of the Danish People’s Party and the Finns Party to announce the creation of the European Alliance for People and Nations, which Mr Meuthen claimed would grow to include 12 parties and could command up to 170 MEPs out of a total of more than 700 in the next parliament. The politicians gathering in Milan are members of three different parliamentary groups in Strasbourg but said that they would try to fold the groups into the new alliance. The AfD is a member of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy grouping; the Danish People’s Party and the Finns Party are in the European Conservatives and Reformists; Mr Salvini’s League is a member of Europe of Nations and Freedom with France’s National Rally. “Many will join us and we want to be the biggest group in the parliament,” Mr Salvini said. That would trigger the appointment of commissioners from Eurosceptic governments in countries such as Italy, Hungary and Poland, ready to overturn EU rules that permit migration and centralise power, the Danish People’s Party leader Anders Vistisen, 31, said. “We want the strongest possible axis,” he added. “If the UK does take part in the European elections, UK parties can talk to us.” Marine Le Pen, 50, the leader of National Rally, formerly the National Front, was conspicuous by her absence in Milan but Mr Salvini said she was backing the alliance and would be at a rally in the city on May 18. Recruiting Hungary’s anti-migrant prime minister Viktor Orban, 55, whose party is a member of the centre-right European People’s Party in Strasbourg, was “50-50”, Mr Meuthen said. The Italian leader has become a poster boy for European populists who believe European culture can be “saved” by halting migration. Clashing policies may yet hamper the alliance. The AfD objects to Mr Salvini’s demand that migrants arriving in Italy are spread around Europe and Italy’s determination to fuel its national debt with generous spending has also irritated the Germans. The biggest bone of contention is Russia: Mr Salvini’s admiration for President Putin, 66, has so far scuppered an alliance with Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party, which fears Russian expansionism. 1

But of course, they only come out with this crap after the guy was proven to be so.... Only the seriously prejudiced would come out with this type of crap re. A magnificent vintage radio in the background indicates the era he wants to take us back to. You like many others seem obsessed with him. Would it be that he actually makes sense and has consistently shown the flaws in the EU. His 25 years as an MEP he has stood to his belief that the UK would be better out of the EU. The press have tried to destroy him at every chance and have failed. He is an avid public speaker and makes so many of our MP's look like amateurs when talking politics. like him or not he is passionate and presents his views very articulately. When he does get a chance on TV he 'runs rings around his opponents' making them like rank ameteurs. Besides the constant character assignation from the media and posters like yourself, you really can't give a valid reason about Nigel Farage and his integrity on his political beliefs. His eyes look like a loon. Very scientific. 5

Popular Post tebee
Interesting twitter thread on why TM's approach to brexit has failed and why brexiters actions will eventually cause brexit to be abandoned. Tl:dr - lack of compromise How brexit should have been conducted (1) The mandate was slim. A unity Brexit was needed (2) The result needed to be respected (3) The 48% needed to be listened to (4) The Government needed to realise pursuing an ideological Brexit would alienate at least 48% and probably more, and would risk Brexit. Why the extreme brexiters are their own worst enemy - including those on here ! But sadly the headbangers and fruitcakes wouldn't listen. They wanted it all, and like Icarus they believed their own PR, echo chambers and thought they were invincible. They still do. And when Brexit is killed, they won't see their own tactical ineptitude. 2 2

The irony is, many of the people who oppose Brexit, whether they’re remainers or just think Brexit is a stupid idea, actually have things to criticize about the EU and would like to see some change. That includes myself and people around me. Brexiteers have failed to win those people. They have alienated them by taking an ultra-radical position built on lies and insults. “Unelected Brussels bureaucrats” anyone? However, most people are decent people of the middle who are disgusted by such behavior. The interesting I can observe with myself and people around me is that Brexit has made us much more supporting of the EU than before. Part of that is because we appreciate benefits that we were not immediately aware of before but took for granted more, but part of it is also because Brexit is not perceived as a noble cause but a huge middle-finger in your face. On the other hand, had the Brexiteers not resorted to lies and insults towards the EU, I am not even sure if they had won the referendum in the first place. 1

There is not one person I know, had changed their mind, to being a Brexit supporter and wanting out of the EU because of the campaigning. they always wanted to leave, I do know some who changed their minds from being a leaver to reaminer, due to project fear and George Osborne. People are tired and sick of it. Brexiters failed to bring people together behind a cause. Because rather then seeking compromises they took the ultra-radical position. Lies, insults, hard-Brexit, war rhetoric. That only works when you can find enough people who are equally radical. Turns out there aren’t. Moderate people who voted to leave in the referendum were alienated and now Brexiters are about to losing it all. And in their typical manner, even now when it would be time to take action and get into the drivers seat to save their cause, they sit in their corner and shout betrayal. That’s not how you win a war. To win a war, you need to win over people and lead. 1 1
