Today we went to big c and bought the Omron Hem7121

looks good and works fine i guess.

The last time i had my bp checked in the clinic it was 136/86

was a bit high that is why i decided i should keep an eye on it.

took a few readings today and average 117/76.

happy with that.

We all get older and we all take our vehicles for maitenance to the garage but sometimes we forget we also put on a lot of miles.

Get your oil checked!!!!

That's ideal for a male, over 50.

Note that people who suffer white coat syndrome are thought to be at more risk of developing hypertension.

Having said that, I think 136/86 has to be regarded as an entirely normal reading in somebody out and about during the day anyway.

I have 2 Omrons and 2 watches that check my pulse and BP.  I check to make sure my meds are working.

Use this multi user Wrist blood pressure monitor, it's accurate https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RQ4YLMK

I managed 86/62 this morning after my walk of 3.5Km.

How low can I go?

I check BP usually to see how it's responding to the medication about 4 x per week...if I can keep things below 150/80 I reckon that I'm doing OK...I'm 68 y.o. and have been a type 2 diabetic for about 20 years...I've read that ye can't expect to maintain 120/70 when yer older...

Quite possibly the modern classifications are unrealistic. I agree.

just check the available literature...if yer able to maintain the same level of activity and fitness from yoof when yer older then maybe yeah...but folks tend to slow down and deteriorate a bit when they age...I never thought that I'd look forward to my bed at night 40 years ago as now...

Some say that the wrist ones are not accurate. I dont know.

Omron is good.  If blood pressure monitoring is important, by the bicep NOT the wrist.  The blood vessels in the wrist are not consistent enough.  If it were we would use them in the hospital. The bicep is optimal due to the location and size of the Arteries.  Best and consistent Pressure readings.
