Criminalizing Johns Using Hookers

Featured Replies

It seems the Thai government is to follow the idea raised in Holland by prosecuting men who use prostitutes in an effort to protect the vulnerable sex workers here . Seems like a jolly good idea to me . However what about all the sex tourists and sexpats already here ? I imagine it would really damage the tourist industry here .

Could definitely happen here as there would be huge amounts of income in shaking down Johns... just look how much the DUI program has already created....

There are laws and there are laws which are at least sometimes enforced.

They have in Thailand a lot more in the first category.

lol - I checked the calendar, the 1st of April is gone already!

will never happen here....police will never let it happen, too many on the take

Protecting vulnerable sex workers? The government would be putting them out of work if the law was really enforced.

Haven't seen any pigs flying past my condo lately. Good try by the OP.

works fine in the US,

the official workaround there is too pay them for their time or a porn movie instead... But i wouldnt be surprised if they come up with tons of these stupid ideas....

Damage would be an understatement. There won't be any tourist industry left. Not to mention a huge recession...

And just how much is that?      Do you have any information to share?

wouldn't affect myself or the majority of my friends in the kingdom.

i would think the damage would be only to a very specific demographic

 Not really a valid comparison.

Yeah, most guys initially visit Thailand for the climate and to see the temples ????

I don't pay them for sex. I pay them to leave.

Of course not, it would affect mostly thais lol.

They will either be just broke, cant support their families anymore or go somewhere outside of thailand to work illegal and end up in human trafficking, it's an absolutely great solution only a true thai could come up with.

Would be too goddmn easy to do it like in germany. LEGALIZE IT. REGULATE IT. MANDATORY HEALTH CERTIFICATES AND PAY TAXES. but i am not giving them that oustanding tip for free...

95% of industry is local Thai not foreigners.

Johns+ hookers=troll.

Right. So when some of your favorite businesses go bankrupt due to the sudden economic storm, it won't affect you. When places that used to cater to foreigners become a ghost town and eventually close, it won't affect you. When entire cities (Pattaya, Phuket) go bankrupt, it won't affect you. Got it. ????

Agreed. The post was about going after Johns in general - not just foreigners. Thais included I assumed.

Regardless- won't happen. Last tourism minister who suggested shutting down prostitution got promptly replaced, lol.

Me too! most on here struggle with that, if I'd known I was being sent into a bloody "oven" not so sure I would have bothered coming!

There’s a perseption among some short term sex tourists, that Thailand’s tourist industry will be kaput if they ever really do clamp down on prostitution and that they alone are feeding Isan.

Wake up Johns.

Sheesh, she drives over in her Mercedes Benz SLC reeking of YSL, kicks off her Jimmy Choo heels, drops her Burberry shirt dress, bangs my brains out for an hour, tosses the 15k I give her into a Hermes Birkin and sashays off. Which is when, naked and sweaty, I start scratching my head trying to figure out how I am going to get through the rest of month.

And she is the vulnerable one who needs protection? Ffuck you.

Had me going there until I read "protect the sex worker"...lol   ????
