Are we going to go through this again?  Do you hope that if you keep denying reality your denial will become real?

"(1) Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation

Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.   http://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=(title:26 section:6103 edition:prelim) OR (granuleid:USC-prelim-title26-section6103)&f=treesort&edition=prelim&num=0&jumpTo=true

You can list  taxpayer's which are subject to many laws that the office of the President is immune to  such as Conflict of interest and indictment! For decades the precedence for the office  to turn over  tax returns has always been voluntary ! Again, there is no law! To be elected POTUS your only required to disclose your financial s.

You are essentially asking 'why should the WH follow the law?'

Trump didn't run to win, he ran to get his name in the news.  He was totally unprepared to take office.

You are truly in full blown denial.  This law was written following the Teapot Dome scandal to give Congress access to President Harding's tax returns.

Contrary to what you and Trump think, the President is not above the law.

The teapot dome scandal involved the POTUS cabinet tax return not the POTUS tax return!

"Congressional investigators pressed President Calvin Coolidge, who had taken over after Harding died, for tax return information for Fall, the oilmen who bribed him and the companies that stood to benefit. Coolidge and his Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, one of the three wealthiest Americans, opposed public disclosure of tax returns, but they acceded to the demands of congressional investigators and handed over the returns"

"The history of the provision shows, however, that Congress enacted this measure to enable investigations into private individuals and the highest-ranking government officials to ensure that they are not getting favorable treatment or evading their taxes".

Can you quote the specific part of the code where it exempts the president?  While you're looking for that, I'll just quote this part: "any return"

You can list  taxpayer's which are subject to many laws that the office of the President is immune to  such as Conflict of interest and indictment! For decades the precedence for the office  to turn over  tax returns has always been voluntary ! Again, there is no law! To be elected POTUS your only required to disclose your financials.

The office of the POTUS because of its privileges are not subject to ordinary rules "any return", I have stated this above.

The highest-ranking government officials is any body below the POTUS because of it's special privilege of the office .

"The history of the provision shows, however, that Congress enacted this measure to enable investigations into private individuals and the highest-ranking government officials to ensure that they are not getting favorable treatment or evading their taxes".

Ok if you say so. Just because he is the most disliked man as President doesn't give them the right to deny his office and its constitution  privileges which are unique to the office of the President

Thanks, this is quite an interesting article. However I don't see how it supports your main point (the president has no obligation to provide its returns). I just quote the first sentence:

"President Donald Trump doesn’t want to release his tax returns to Congress, but thanks to progressives, two of the biggest scandals in U.S. history and a fight between two millionaires, he doesn’t have a choice"

Sorry I didn't quote that first sentence .My quotes from the article  are marked clearly! That first sentence you mention seems like the  context was a opinion by the writer

most folks only want to know about nonsense stuff.  well, maybe Trump can do us a favor with all of the crazy stuff he has generated so far.  over the top.

so wait until, maybe today, someone breaks "bank secrecy" on some Trumper thing.  we expats have to file all kinds of reports to disclose our bank accounts.  but any transaction, for which we accountants use the tongue twister "offshore transactions" to describe, and you can do any damn thing you want.

self dealings.  hidden wealth.  corruption.  money laundering.  insider trading on foreign securities markets.  tax avoidance.  and "other stuff".

bank secrecy.

to nail Kim Jung Un all we needed was 9 names and passport and drivers license numbers, and UNSC 2371 was not vetoed by Russia or China because the nuke thing crossed a red line finally.  and the USA is more powerful than ever as well.

yet all we need to do (we the Little People, Silent Majority, Sleeping Giants) is vote for politicians to pass laws to require the use of blockchain ledgers for all "offshore transactions".... no nominees or banks that say they do "Know Your Customer" wink! wink! wink!...... and we live in an entirely different world.  but our media doesn't report this stuff very often at all..... instead we get "fire and fury" and Great Leaders meeting here and there.... because it competes with social media and all kinds of stupid nonsense.... and also because it isn't just Kim Jung Un and Donald Trump that use "offshore transactions" and nominees, especially corporate ones... and somehow those kinds of folks write a lot of advert checks which are how our media makes any money at all anymore.  even PBS.

You must admit when seeking the truth and letter of law the litigators use past practice and precedence along with statues( Presidents have volunteered their tax returns for decades)

So it is your interpretation of the law that Trump is above even high ranking officials; he is the Imperial President and not subject to law.

The Founding Fathers would be appalled.  The courts will not agree.  I doubt that even Trump's lawyers agree, they are just stalling in the hopes that court challenges can continue until after the next election.

This in a nutshell is exactly what Donald is trying to do but he isent ripping off some broke contractor trying to get paid he is trying to cheat the congress of their oversite duty’s

Mnuchin rejected a demand for the documents from House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, saying the panel lacks "a legitimate legislative purpose"

It's so obviously a political stunt that anyone with integrity would reject the demand, IMO. Hopefully the courts will back him.

Where do you get this idea of constitutional privileges?  Where is it written that the President is above the law?  What past judicial precedents are you drawing upon?

I think your last line of defense for Trump is to make stuff up.  You should be on his legal team, that's what they are doing.

He's not above the law, but the courts will decide whether he is right or not.

Of course congress can impeach him, but LOL on that. Even Nancy seems to realise why that would be a bad idea. Every Democrat president ever after would face impeachment from a majority GOP house.
