CCTV footage posted by the daughter of the owner of a seafood restaurant in Pattaya showed what the owner thought was a foreign man stealing lobsters and shrimps they had bought at the market.

They thought the thief might be Russian, reported 77kaoded.

The theft occurred at 4 am but the thief was foiled in his getaway when massage ladies at a shop next door gave chase. He dumped the Crustacea that was contained in two plastic bags and fled the scene.

77kaoded reporters went to see Thitima Saengaroon, 62 the owner of the shop after her daughter Janya posted on Facebook and offered a reward. The number to call is 0891 351 550 if you have information.

Thitima said that the shop at the end of Soi 9 on Pattaya Sai 2 road was closed at 4 am.

The man stole four lobsters and three kilos of mantis shrimp that were loaded into the two bags.

But someone at the massage shop was suspicious and had not yet gone to sleep. The alert was sounded then the massage ladies gave chase resulting in the thief dropping the seafood.

It was worth 20,000 baht or more she said.

Surely 20kbht of lobster would need a bigger bag to remove, not two small carrier bags?

Assuming 50/50 that would be 5Kg lobster, and 10Kg shrimps, total 15Kg in weight

I was thinking the same, 3 small lobsters and some small crabs.

So they are charging 5000 bht for a small lobster ????. Then the crab 5000 bht a bag

Life is all about perspective

Just think about it .... the sinking of the Titanic must have seemed like a miracle to the lobsters in the ship's kitchen.

yes, ok ... I’ll get my coat.

Except they froze to death

That there's the real crime.

Overcharging tourists for seafood is just shellfish... they should try being a bit more philanthropod.
