Who is going to choose to pay a water bill or buy a BTS ticket as a way to launder money? The stupidity here is astounding. And, as usual, some places demand the ID and some don't, rendering the whole exercise pointless anyway. It's the same mindset that demands alcohol not be sold near schools and colleges as underage people might buy it. Asking to see the ID that everyone carries obviously has never occurred to them. Show the ID when you don't need to as you are not laundering money by paying bills, but don't demand it when you should. Alice Through the Looking Glass stuff. The really sad thing is that those who make the rules could not possibly fathom why those rules are pointless and stupid. Been paying my electricity for the last 10 years by direct debit, by far the easiest way. Water is more of a problem, that is heaven sent and some years gets held up for prolonged periods. Many thais are registered for ID at their home area, but actually due to work live elsewhere. If a bill is for a specific address, they can link your ID to the address ..... Bills yes but if you pay invoices that aren't real bills and just deposit the money to the merchants bank account no one cares.It's not even possible to transfer these amounts from your bank to a third party account in a single transaction, the limit is faaaar below, same bank is sth like 1 mio thb but to a differrnt bank its lile 100k per single transaction.
