World is full of idiots
Clearly referring to yourself as usual. Always projecting. Sad. -

And so the exodus of quality expats begins. This time it's personal
I spent some time in Chiang Rai and liked it. Hiked to some waterfalls in the mountains. Saw the white temple, ate on the barge. It was the middle of Covid and I drove up from Nonthaburi during one of the windows when you could travel. Only complaint that I had was the air pollution. Passing through Chiang Mai you sort of had the sense that there might be a mountain to the west but you could not see it. No tourists. It was nice. -

If Thailand were to open it's first Casino, would you pay a visit?
You could have all your freinds fit in a phone booth and there still be room for more. -

Questioned about my underwear at a Police checkpoint.
He's kind of stitched himself up with this persona. He started wanting to be a really positive and optimistic expat living in Japan but occasionally holidaying in Thailand. Then he immediately went back to an unhappy expat living in Thailand moaning about made-up stories every day. -

I probably should have paid the money.
Wow. Maybe you can't afford $50 once a year for his birthday, but I am guessing you probably can. So why not be the bigger person and pay the whole bill to keep your son happy? Sounds like the lady was an annoying old hen and I understand your desire to stick it to her, even still ... Birthday is once a year, what will your son remember, a fun party or a drama over the bill? I guess it's "the principle of the thing".
