Just because other countries are guilty of land theft and ethnic cleansing in the 21st Century doesn't make it right. And worse still to have the USA rubber stamp it.

Interesting to note American disapproval in the form of economic sanctions when other countries behave so badly, and yet hypocritically reward Israel when it does the same.

Building a squattlement Trump Heights won't make the rightful owners Syria roll over and stop fighting to get it back. Trump has needlessly created yet another obstacle to peace in the region.

I think your comments would be a tad more credible if you'd actually bother with them other instances, rather than being almost exclusively focused on this conflict.

As for hypocritical comments about the USA's hypocrisy - the USA does business with China, Saudi Arabia and others countries holding a bad track record on related issues. As far as I'm aware, not much by way of sanctions either, but expected you'll try and twist reality to fit the narrative.

And unless you missed it, the "rightful owners"'s ruler is busy killing his own people, allowing sponsor countries a greater foothold. That's without adding them pesky Kurds, or the Turkish invasion/occupation to the list. I think he's got more pressing things on his plate at the moment.

Do tell how Trump's hollow move actually effects chances for "peace in the region". Do you imagine that Assad is in any position to make peace - at the moment, or anytime soon? Does it effect, in any way, the non-existent negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians? More like a knee-jerk reactions slogan.

Israel and its pre-independence terrorists gangs has started every single war with its neighbors apart from 1973 and even then Egypt was only trying to regain occupied territory.

Syria will do the same one day. One thing is for sure:  the Trump administration and Israel are the only ones in the world who will ever recognize this illegal annexation. Neat photo op for Netanyahu's re-election bid and a massage for Trump's ego, but that's all.

Disregarding your standard issue historical revisionism attempts, got to love the crystal ball bits. You have no idea whether Syria "will do the same" one day, or ever. And you can't be sure about the recognition thing either. More like wishful thinking, rather than reality based comments.

Hopefully Trump Heights, this monument to monumental vanity, will be razed to the ground when the Golan Heights are returned to their rightful owner.

I suppose that you don't apply your same thinking to China in the South China or in Ukraine or Crimea. There you want international laws to apply. Examine your conscience.

Apparently there's not much to be razed, and I wouldn't bet that there ever will be. Got to love posters going on about the "rightful owner", skipping around the uncomfortable reality of what's currently going on there.

As for bringing up China in the South China Sea, Ukraine and Crimea - got to love the hypocrisy displayed by some posters. Truly amusing. And that "examine you conscience" bit - priceless. Thanks a bunch.

All that plus the Trump Casinos and the Trump Towers failures around the world.

Trump. A serial Money Laundering expert, a Fraud and Scammer. To let Donald be in Charge of USA Finances is like to let a Child molester be in charge of an Orphanage.

All Presidents from Clinton onwards are on record as agreeing that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, only Trump had the balls to officially recognise it as such. It upset a few oil producers and terrorists, tough.

Congress passed a law in 1995 that recognized in principle that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel. But it gave presidents the authority to delay moving the embassy there. Clinton, Bush, and Obama all repeatedly exercised that authority.

No matter what's going on in Syria, the Golan Heights does rightfully belong to it. And whatever the nature of its government, that is entirely irrelevant to the question of Israel's annexation of the Golan heights and its theft of private property located on it.

My point was more to do with the hypocrisy exhibited by some posters. But then you already knew that.

More like you're striving to get one of your pointless, petty off-topic arguments going.

The difference is that Israel claims not to be in a class with Russia, Iran, China, etc. but is part of the "civilized world" relying on the various conventions mentioned in the post to which you responded.  In effect it is the same as far a taking over territory, annexing, and building on it. Downright territorial expansion. Israel has not kept the lands it conquered as a safe zone but used it to build settlements and expand it's control. There's a difference between security and expansion.

Israel is barely the size of LA county bro. If there's this big nefarious "territorial expansion" going on its moving at the slowest pace in human history. Even more bizarre considering the fact they completely gave Gaza over to the virulent scum of Hamas. Russia annexed a giant chunk of Ukraine and the entire region of Crimea. If you think this is anything even remotely the same as the tiny region of the Golan Heights you are mentally ill.

Expansion is expansion. Size has nothing to do with it. If your neighbor stole your house and moved his family in, I dont think you would excuse him on the grounds that it's not as bad as Russia in the Crimea. You'd feel exactly the same as the thousands of Syrians who were ethnically cleansed to create the stolen land on which Trump Heights will be built.

The poster "Trouble" is quite right. Under the Geneva Convention one is allowed temporary military outposts on occupied land until the conflict is resolved, but it is a war crime to ethnically cleanse the local population, not allow them to return and then transfer your own people there.
