50/50 me's don't think so, Johnson was again way out in front with 160 out of 313 votes, versus Hunt's 77.

No consequences later UK out October.

Yes, on Question Time last night someone said how un democratic the EU was with an unelected President, So we will have a new PM elected by paid up Tories, and America gets Trump when more Americans voted for Hillary...

Yes and no.Brown was elected by just a few hundred MPs.If Boris is elected it will be through the party membership of 160,000 - so that is a great deal more democratic. I don't see how Boris is being hypocritical since he didn't make the rules up and he can hardly be blamed for a swipe at Gordon Brown.UK is a parliamentary democracy and there are several instances of a party leader becoming a PM without a General Election.It's true there is a convention that a PM coming to power in this way is usually expected to call a General Election sooner rather than later.Brown considered this and then bottled it.In any case if Boris is elected he will probably have to call a General Election at the end of this year.He may be one of the shortest tenure PMs in British history.

In the UK we vote for a candidate of the party we hope will win the election. The PM is then elected by the winning party's MPs.

 

There is no choice on a ballot paper to say who you would want to PM if that party wins the election. One reason would be because you would have to list every MP from every party without knowing if they won or lost the election.

 

The voting ballot paper would be the size of a newspaper.

I'm hearing rumours that Boris (assuming he gets the PM job) would go for a General Election, and do a deal with the Brexit Party. That deal would involve the Brexit Party not fielding a candidate in constituencies where the Tories have a chance of beating Labour, and the Tories not campaigning in constituencies where the Brexit Party can beat Labour (e.g. Midlands, oop north and Wales). In return the Brexit Party would get several MPs in Parliament and go into coalition with the Cons. 

 

A Tory / Brexit Party coalition would have a majority, and hey presto we'd get Brexit! A risky strategy, but it could work.

Boris "(assuming he gets the PM job)" Boris has a 160 majority can't see him not being PM, Hunt only a 77 vote can't see them wanting another TM remainer back in No.10.  

He can deliver brexit already in October by doing nothing.
