Neatsfoot Oil, Can You Buy It In Thailand?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for to preserve leather products and have been advised to use neatsford oil, however I don't know if it's available in Thailand.

Does anybody know where I can buy it, preferably in fairly large quantities?

Do not know about neatsfoot oil....where would you catch a neat?and what do you do with the rest of the body?

Seriously, though, what you need to do is to supply the leather with an animal or vegetable oil....

I used to use "hidefood", which is a lanolin based emulsion...and it is very good, but amfairly certain it is not available here.........however....you can use "NIVEA CREME"...just as good....and in Thailand, quite cheap...spread a thin layer all over the surface....leave overnight....and repeat as necessary.......hope this helps....

You can get imported leather fats in most department stores in the shoe department.

Neatsfoot oil is an old fashioned solution.

It will stain/darken leather.

Much better to get a modern product like Lexol. (google it)

Naka.

Thanks for the suggestions,

Actually I'm looking for something a bit more affordable, not imported because I want to use a fair quantity. I realise the neatsford oil can darken leathers, but I'm not so concerned about this,

We used to use neatsfoot oil for everything when I was a kid: to break in new baseball gloves, lacrosse sticks (back when the webbing was leather), hockey gloves, winter boots. Now I use Kiwi Mink Oil as it both treats and waterproofs leather. I have a tin but can't remember if I bought it here or in the U.S.A. Kiwi brand products are available here so maybe you can find it?
