Thaivisa notes that the incident will come as a blow to people who believe that many Bangkok taxi drivers are sinners and that Grab drivers are mostly saints.

I never had the impression that Grab drivers were of a higher class.

Many ppl esp. Chinese tourists believe that a Grab car is better. Main issue is that Chinese travellers can be very trying passengers.

If they are Thai it doesn't matter what kind of taxi they drive. Being hot-headed and violent is in their DNA, and working for Grab doesn't alter that one bit.

This is crazy.  For a driver to take out his ire on two fore.igners and rough them up with a club is not a fairway to behave on the hole.  Is this normal behaviour or am I just a bit green.

I agree. Pressure from China and its voluminous tourist money (depending on which lie is being circulated by government), is the only thing the "leaders" understand.

The behavior of drivers is always going to be the same since they come from the same stock. Its the response by GRAB that sets the service apart from DLT though. Rather than a piddling fine and 3 hours of a re-education video, the driver gets fired immediately and all medical expenses of the victim covered by grab.

Got it in One.
