Hapless drug man gets stuck in a drain all night after fleeing police search

A woman in the Bang Jak area of Phrapradaeng thought it was odd when she heard noises coming from the drain outside her house on Monday. 

 

She had heard about a man nearby who had bitten an officer and escaped down a drain after an attempted body search - this must be him!

 

Khammai Khaokhaen called Pol Lt-Col Sayan Phuphanna who arrived with Ruam Katanyu foundation and got Sopha, 42, out of the drain. 

 

Dressed only in his undies he was covered from head to toe in mud, was exhausted and very thirsty. 

 

He was showered, given some clothes and taken to Phrapradaeng police station. 

 

He admitted that he was the man police had stopped on Sunday. While being body searched he bit an officer and fled down a drain. He said he did this because he had just taken drugs and had some on his person. 

 

He ditched his trousers containing the drugs and ventured 300 meters along the drain before settling down for the night. In the morning he couldn't find his way out. 

 

On hearing footsteps above he called out for help. 

 

Sophon has been charged with possession of Ya Ba and "ice" and will also face charges later of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

They should let him go now.....I think being in one of those drains is punishment enough.  Probably hasnt got long to live after being in contact with all that filth overnight.  What a nightmare!

Other than the brainwave to ditch his trousers, there's not really a lot in here that would look good on a resume.
