I can see the application in low consumption appliances for a short time but how successful would it be in high consumption units like air-con , water heaters , etc hmmm not sure ..

And the idea itself is not a new one

Trevor Baylis invented the wind up radio and shot firing or explosives specialists use a wind up gen' to fire a charge ..

Even 1W of LED is enough for the youngsters to do their homework.

A step in the direction of a better education if you disregard how great the Thai education system isn't.

we have a few of those light bulbs that run off grapefruits and other assorted fruits and vegies, still waiting for the grapefruit trees to bare fruit.

It is just false economy if you consider just how efficient electricity is compared to the maximum output of the human body.

It would take approximately 10 people working flat out for an hour to produce the equal output of 1 kilowatt hour of electricity.

Not sure what the cost of Thai electricity is but let's say 10 Baht/kWh which means each person can, in one hour earn 1 Baht.

the Amazing Thailand is still amazing!!

It amazing that this guy works for the electricity authority, or did work for them, and he clearly has little understanding of what he has put his name to.

This is nothing more than an embarrasment to the Thai education system and level of skills.

He spent 16k on his prototype, he could have bought a couple of 300W panels, an inverter and a deep-cycle battery.

And would now be sitting pretty without having to crank the beast.

Exactly, and "crank" was close but not quite the right word

I wonder is he related to the gangsters that are convinced they can reduce electricity usage by adding the gadget they invented

You beat me to it! I was going to mention the clockwork radio too. The idea was for people living with no power to be able to listen to the radio easily.

I see that was back in 1994. It was manufactured in South Africa.

But of course, no detail of just how much energy it produces for 8 hours.

Did you watch and listen to the video?

Yeah sadly he passed away last yr but what a great idea he came up with ..

The Thai version might work on high consumption things if they upscaled the Hamster wheel generator idea .. and went for a long run .. or spin ..

Did any you guys really watch the video? listen to what he say?

He has to many order for it to do himself.

A million units around the world. He is an electric engineer and study in Chicago.

He not say it can power an aircon etc. Good for other application. Like where no power. Not need oil like the generator. Free power.

The governor come to help him to get investors with auction to make more production.

He only spend 16,000 baht so far. Look like he will make more profit than this. He have the “patent” already.

Any you guys invent something? Make the profit? Or just complain?

Good story. No need to complain everything if you can not understand. Ridicule everything but you not understand what he say. Sound like you have hope he will fail. Sound like jealously.

He not claim it good for every way, just some situation.

So does he say how much energy it produces for the eight hours he says it will run?

That's what a lot of posters want to know.

Not ridiculing it Yinn but there are limitations to what handcranked generators can power .. And as has been shown the idea is not a new one .. Slightly off course what might be of greater benefit to provide power are mini wind turbines that are becoming more and more popular and some are capable of a not insignificant output .. Sufficient wind power to spin them notwithstanding of course ..

Nothing new....but he is Thai so credit to him for trying. Most Thai men would not think about anything but their daily food and whiskey.
