PAWNEESE
LATE "RETIREMENT" VISA / EXTENSION APPLICATION Ive got a friend / landlord who has had a "retirement" "visa" for about 3 or 4 years. He has millions of baht cash permanently in Thai banks as he gets paid for occasionally working on oil rigs, paid direct into his Thai bank accounts. So no eligibility problems re money. I assume reason for his absence irelevent. But he has been required to work longer than planned. No Thai wife to help sort. He has just emailed me asking me if I can find out what the situation is .. with him arriving back here 5 days after his "visa" expires. His return being delayed from original date. Not sure if this is next week or months away. Ive done many many searches on here. Nothing found about late renewal applications. Sorry. I think I read people have 7 days but may have dreamt that ????????. How many days can you be late ? as I guess he might be delayed longer than the 5 days .. Maybe if he gets barred ... I can stop paying the old skinflint rent ????????????????????????????????. Edited July 13, 2019 by metisdead ALL CAPS removed from topic title. Popular Post Crossy
If his extension of stay has expired when he returns he will have to start over. No leeway for late return. He will get whatever permission his passport allows (30 day visa exempt) and need to start from there. It may be worthwhile his taking a couple of days off work if that's possible in his current role to sort a new extension. 2
lopburi3
As said if he returns late he has no non immigrant O visa entry to extend anymore. He will obtain normal visa exempt entry if eligible and can then convert to non immigrant O entry at immigration and from there extend in normal manner. Will be extra 2,000 baht charge for conversion and extra paperwork but not a big issue as long as he takes care of it immediately (normally have to have at least 15 days remaining on permitted stay).
DrJack54
Just to add to good advice above..... if he is pressed for time to obtain conversion of his visa exempt (30days) he can obtain an extension and gain and extra 30 days
