BANGKOK, 16 July 2019 (NNT) - Gov’t Big Data plan to allow One-Stop services using only ID card

The government is extending its One-Stop service enhancement plan using Big Data integration, which will allow some 200 different transactions to be made easier, by requiring only a national identification card for verification of the customer.

The Minister of the Interior, Gen Anupong Paochinda and the the Minister of a Digital Economy and Society, Pichet Durongkaveroj have held a media conference on the enhancement of government one-stop services for the general public and private sector, advising that the government is implementing an integrated system that enables a data transfer between related agencies, which can be expanded even further to the ASEAN level.

The new system will improve efficiency and better serve the general public, who will be able to access basic services at government agencies and state enterprises more conveniently, requiring only their national identification card for verification when requesting any, of some 200 government services, under the Ministry of the Interior.

The government’s approach on Big Data implementation will however require an amendment to the law to enable efficient, unified, and timely operations, which will help reduce operational costs by eliminating redundant actions and cut down on the time required.

The minister said that national data connection is now ready at a certain level, adding that the plan will today be proposed to the Cabinet for acknowledgement, before proceeding further according to government plans.
