Drove from Pattaya to Bangkok and back today and didn't see any Police checkpoints or Police vehicles stopping dangerous drivers.

Of course not they busy merit making plus important people are know to travel that route to risky pulling over the wrong person.

Got to love the irony . Sales of alcohol prohibited and Big P asking people not to drive drunk????

At least it uncovers that he HAS some idea what is reality in his country.

drive at excessive speed, to prevent road accidents.

It's difficult to check if a driver is drunk without stopping every car.  It's easy to spot a speeding car.  Speed kills yet Thai police continually fail to curb the speedsters.  Every day they fail to do this, 60+ people (mainly Thais) die + the severe life changing injuries and grief for the families and friends.

This is Thailand, if its their time, its their time, Its preordained. Which would explain why they don't care about safety, seatbelts, child car seats, or helmets.

He might as well tell the buffalo in the fields not to drink drive. That is how much the people listen here The laws may be in Thailand but the people dont obey and the keystone cops dont enforce them Carry on Thailand drink plenty of booze and do some drink driving Its fun

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has called on motorists to not drive under the influence of alcohol.....

He'll get the same response as asking them not to ride their motorcycles on the pavements!

Maybe that's what he really meant?

PM calls on motorists to not drive under the influence of alcohol during the long holiday.

Hic! No..... that's not what he meant.

He meant for motorists not to drive too long while under the influence of alcohol during the holiday.

But doesn't explain how they might feel upon waking up in hospital, minus a limb, or paralysed. or dribbling like an idiot, like a cabbage, (although some would say there's plenty of those without accidents), knowing that  somebody they loved did die horrifically in the same accident, that they might have to pay compensation, (fat chance), can't claim insurance because they were DUI - and possibly other ponderables that might go through their thick heads in a hospital bed? But hey! I'm OK. F.R.O everyone else!
