The reason socialist countries (while Finland isn't socialist per se, they just managed to elect a leftist government that jumped right back on the let's tax them to death train) do well is they are on average competitive. Omar has apologised for some of her remarks, but not for her criticism of some of the Israeli governments actions - fair enough. There is no law which prevents a Muslim lady from acting in a disrespectful manner towards her adopted country and no law that prevents any citizen from telling her to go back where she came from.  I think they are both covered under free speech.  So the law has been applied equally.

As for what Trump said, nice try. 3 out of the 4 are native born Americans. And you're right, under the 1st amendment he has a right to tell them all to go back. But that doesn't mean it isn't bigotry. Bigoted speech is also protected under the first amendment.

And what that crowd said was even worse: They weren't telling her to go back. They were chanting "Send her back." In other words, they were advocating forcible removal of an American citizen on the grounds that they didn't like how she exercised her free speech rights. But at least the nation's chief executive reprimanded them on those grounds...I'm kidding.

The only ones racist are Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. Neither should be in Congress - Ilhan Omar isn't even American - she was born and raised in Somalia and Kenya, and came to the US as a refugee. Omar became a U.S. citizen in 2000 when she was 17 years old.

Both were freely elected to represent their respective districts. You don't need to be native born to be in congress. President, yes. Congress no.

If Ilhan Omar isn't American then neither is Melania Trump or the roughly 40 million Americans who were born as citizens elsewhere.

Irrelevant. As a naturalized citizen you swear an oath of allegiance to your new country that you will abandon allegiance to all other nations. She clearly does not have the US's best interests in mind and is promoting Muslim interests over American interests, therefore by law she is ineligible to be a naturalized citizen.

 

P.S. I got naturalized a few years after her. I'm all in favor of LEGAL immigration. This isn't about immigration - this is about her being racist and unamerican.
