Ruk Siam News reported that everything was as normal last night in Walking Street after bombs and fires rocked the capital earlier in the day.

Tourists were sauntering about in the famed red light district despite the trouble in Bangkok.

The media reported that the Pattaya police had been issued with emergency instructions to mobilize officers to set up checkpoints all over the resort.

More than 20 officers were mobilized to look out for trouble that might threaten tourism and residents.

One checkpoint looking out for weapons and drugs was set up outside Big C on Sukhumvit Road.

Nothing untoward was found.

Don't mess with the officer with the jackboots and goggle eye glasses. He'd be a real fun spoiler.

Any excuse for the BIB to conduct a military style exercise and intimidate the tourists. (if any)

Even the Chinese must be sick of taking their photo.

Here in Bangkok you wouldn't even know something had happened unless you were right there. No-ones talking about it.

actually i will not talk about specifics, but you remember Hua Hin was bombed two years ago.

so there is a big change right now if you look for it.

Which apparently isn't red at all as it's a family friendly area with no prostitution to be found !

It ia amazing how critical all the foreigners are of anything done here in Thailand. Imyself am grateful for their hospitality and consider many of you to be dreadfully disrespectful. If things are that miserable for you, go home and try to live on your meager incomes.

Speaking (and thinking) good of someone, focusing on his qualities (although seeing the person as a whole), encourages this person to activate the energy inside to see you the same way.  That needs to be done first with oneself.

Sounds like someone who is still in the honeymoon period and thinks he needs to be a sheep that loves everything about the country, just because he stays there.

Or perhaps prefers to live a life of optimism as opposed to grinding pessimism ?

That is a typical uniform for a motorcycle officer in the USA.

Pattaya has been lucky so far, avoiding any terrorist attacks.
But it could happen, anyone can make a bomb and explode it in a shopping mall etc.

I try to move around and never stay too long in one place.

I have found generally their hospitality comes at a price, particularly in the tourist areas where they are a greedy lot. More rural, they can be great.

The ping pong show venues need to put up signs which read "enter at your own risk."

When was the last time you saw a ping pong show in Pattaya?  Might want to talk about something you know something about.
