Please...looking for advice. My mother has NPH and is planning to do VP shunt in Bumrungrad . Is it true that Bumrungrad sometimes charge extremely higher price than others?

How does it compare to other country like singapore in price?

If so any recommandation for doctor and hospital? Is Vejthani hospital good for neurosurgery?

Bumrungrad is about the most expensive hospital in Thailand and does cost more than other private hospitals. However Singapore is usually even more than that.

All hospitals in Thailand of any size do neurosurgery, it is not the hospital you should choose but the surgeon .

I would recommend one of these doctors:

Prof. Sarun Nunta-aree  at Siriraj  hospital http://www.siphhospital.com/en/home

or at Thonburi Hospital (same doctor, might cost a bit less at Thonburi) http://www.thonburihospitalkh.com/index.php/profile/ass-prof-dr-sarun-nunta-aree-m-d-ph-d/

He is also at Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej Hospital but those are close to Bumrungrad in price

Professor Theerapol Witthiwej  also at Siriraj as well as at Chaophya hospital

The website Sheryl gave you (SiPH) is the private branch of Siriraj.

English is widely spoken there, foreigners are very welcome.

It's a bit cheaper than Bumrungrad, maybe 10 or 20%

Their philosophy is quite different from Bumrungrad, more Thai style, quite minimalistic:

Where Bumrungrad gives you 10 different medications they may give you only one (the one that's absolutely necessary). If Bumrungrad would keep you in hospital a week they may discharge you after 3 days.

Singapore General Hospital and National University Hospital are extremely good (often to a degree you cannot find in Thailand). Their prices for foreigners are often much cheaper than Bumrungrad.

Singapore's private hospitals are very, very expensive.

Thanks. Can foreigner go to Siriraj? Do they have English

interpreters? Again thanks.

Yes, foreigners can go.

If you go through the private wing they have English speakers

In my experience Singapore Nat Univ Hospital is quite expensive. Haven't had any expereince with Singapore General.
