The office of the POTUS is decided by a electoral process in America! That person represents America at the G7. People who wish that this person not be there will have to wait until possibly 2024,for another choice

I can remember when you were hard over that he would be reelected in 2020.  Now you ar using the word "possibly".  Are you now doubting his ability to be re-elected next November or are you thinking that he might try to pass an executive order making him "president for life" which could extend well beyond 2024.

Got to wonder about the getting caught off guard bit. Doesn't seem awfully reasonable. For one thing, I'm pretty sure the USA monitors Zarif's movements. And then there are various security arrangements to contend with.

POTUS is not known for his attention to briefings. Who knows...

Yes ,we have been using this democratic process for over 200 years! The democratic process to change that is voting

And how many other 18th century processes do we have faith in 250 yrs later? Are you up for a blood letting? Hankering for the vote to go to white landed gentry only?

A dialogue between disagreeing leaders; what a new idea! The 'merkins would not understand that new age concept!

By the same token, you must support, then, Trump's invitation to bring Putin and Russia back into the G8, as is also reported in the OP. Personally, I don't believe either Putin or the Iranians belong anywhere in or near the room. And Trump is a fool for kowtowing before an acknowledged enemy such as Putin. But let's be consistent, the Iranians, Russian allies, don't belong there either and Macron is just as much of a posturing fool as Trump.

Or Trump was the only one not so surprised since the " improvised" 2 hour Trump-Macron lunch - on friday -  aimed at preparing the ground and preventing Trump from slamming the door of the G7 summit. The decision was made after the lunch , and so, Trump let it happen -

No. This is not a US controlled forum. But a forum of consent. The trumps “invitation” should not have been made, without discussing and agreeing with the other participants... it is highly disrespectful.

Putin is not a part of this group. Sure... encouraging and entering into dialogue with him, should be done, but not in this forum.... A forum which is ostensibly punishing Russia over Crimea. Talks with Putin need doing elsewhere, with the result determining if he should be allowed to rejoin this specific Group.

China is an economic superpower... your POV would/ should include letting China join. Do you advocate for that, as well?

If you name the other seven, we might get close to discovering which person is the 'eighth' person.

In earlier news "conferences" Trump said that Macron had cleared evrything with him before he arranged the meeting with the Iranian PM.  During the joint news conference about an hour ago Macronwas ask that soecific question and Macron told the journalists that he, on his own, arranged the meeting with the PM and then told Trump.  Lie number 120001+.  What a fool!

Yes, and he never will represent the majority. But sadly based on the legacy of slavery structure of the U.S. election system, he may indeed be "elected" again.

Trump didn't want to acknowledge that "previous" allies are doing things without him

3  lies in one meeting, pretty alarming considering the meeting was making most western news reports, the behaviour is getting worse it seems

The result of narsistic fits over "his" FOX NEWS polling that he is losing to the top four democratic candidates in 2020! It's only going to get worse between now and then especially if the economy tanks.  If he loses the election he will contest the results nd will most likely have to be removed from the white house in a straight jacket.  It's a mental disorder.

Trump is always down for talking. He's expressed a desire for direct talks with Iran himself on more than one occasion. We all know who was "caught off guard" by the meeting- the same folks that brought us the Iraq War, the Libyan Debacle, and the attempted destruction of Syria. And they obvious weren't really "caught off guard" as they surely have agents in both the French and Iranian governments. That phrase is just their passive aggressive way of complaining that somebody, somewhere, might be trying to keep the world out of war.

Well based on his bizarre love affair with murderous dictator Kim (among other similarly weird infatuations) I think it's more fair to see he's always open to a photo opportunity. Actual progress generally eludes him. Too much work, too much reading, too many details. Not his thing.

Sounds like an overly convulsed way of pushing one of your routine "deep state" conspiracy theories.
