Used A/C units?

Featured Replies

About to open a small coffee shop in Pattaya and looking to install A/C... before I buy new.. Is there any places sell used units (there are so many businesses close in Pattaya I would have thought there would used stuff out there?).... Some say used units are same price as brand new?... Can't be surely?...

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks

i bought used AC off of Facebook but now the new inverter AC's are so efficient that you make up the different in your power bill very quickly.

Something to consider.

Welcome to Thailand.

Coffee shop, a small one, watch it get smaller every day.

Mate. people sell old AC units because they are past their use by date.

Good luck and I am not trying to be a smart <deleted>.

I have various business and properties here and sad to hear you have this opinion??..I take it your you lack of confidence is due to a bad experience?...Whatever..Thanks for your input...

When you buy a used A/c,you have to add in  installation costs ,buy new

and they install for free,so in the end maybe not worth it,even 2 nd hand

they are not cheap, like everything else here.plus no guarantee.

Thanks for the Info...David...

Thanks for that...That seals it..I will just guy new..

Actually some of the shops that sell new air con units also sell second hand and will install for you. From memory i was quoted about 8000b to supply and install an 18000btu with some sort of guarantee. That was to replace an existing and not sure, but probably using existing pipework and wiring. How long they would last is another matter.

I would suggest as another poster mentioned that the new inverters might be your best bet, especially if it's going to be used all day for your business

Good advice from worgeordie.

Also, bear in mind that you may end up buying a defective unit which has been repaired. We paid 15k for our brand new a/c unit in a large double bedroom, that included installation and a free 6 month clean. Never managed to get them to come and clean it though!

Buying used in Thailand is very different from in the West. There's normally a good reason why Thai people try and offload an asset, although to be fair in many cases this can also include the belief that something has been possessed by a ghost which is my my wife refuses to let me buy a used mobile phone or motorcycle.

Also when Thai people sell second hand goods, they don't really understand depreciation and generally try and recoup the majority of what they spent on the item in question, hence buying new is always better.

In the West if you spent $20k on a car and tried to sell it 3 years later, you'd probably advertise at $10-13k. In Thailand they'd ask $18k.

Agreed.. I will definitely now just buy new!.. and as for car prices!!!!

What is that all about!!!... Cheers

Look at Power Buy on line. You can get a new one installed for 12,500 baht. Why take the risk to buy second hand for what 5k plus installation?
